Is it OK to buy a girlfriend a brand of perfume that an ex used to use?
Now I know some of the girls here class the cheap generic rubbish you get at boots or dove deodorant 'perfume', but I'm talking something other than a mainstream perfume - ie something a little bit rarer. See i know plenty of girls that wear Deep red and wouldn't be too bothered about buying that for a gf, but this particular brand (dazzling silver) is my fave perfume which an ex from years back used to wear.
Would it be wrong to give that..? Is it a bit creepy..?
Its not like im getting it cos it reminds me of this ex (it does a little) just i really like the smell!
I'd be subtle about it and maybe go into a perfume department and see what she likes. Perfume takes very differently on different people and many a time I've bought one that smelt nice on someone else and then its been hideous on me. Also some girls have a fixed perfume by now and so will only wear others on special occasions so there might be no point in getting her a big bottle. I'm quite picky over perfumes personally and will only wear certain types so I'd check that she doesn't have any preferences first.
I would never buy a girlfriend perfume, it's quite personal and she might not like it. Perfumes also smell different on different people and it just might not work for her.
I mean you're going to be reminded of your ex inevitaby but I wouldn't really go : oh yeah my ex used to wear it....it owuld just sound as if you're trying to make her look like your ex or something...

this is it, she said the other day she hardly ever wears perfume and i realised i had never smelt any (it was a conversation about the fact she can smell my aftershave on her pillow days after ive stayed over). So she fished the 3 bottles out of her cupboard. they were certainly stashed in the back for good reason, i recognised 1 bottle because my gran wears it. uck. anyway, already spotted and bought the perfume on ebay (cost £10 where in the shops it costs £35) and it smells sooooo nice. love it. now just gotta hope i never mentioned it in the past to her. Shes got the memory of an elephant...
You should probably leave choosing the perfume to the girl. I remember I had to heavily hint to my ex about a perfume so that he would get that one instead of choosing one himself. I am picky about the type of perfume I wear, and I expect most people would be. Perhaps take her shopping and see what she likes. If you REALLY like this particular perfume, perhaps a little '*spray* what do you think about this one?' is in order. I wouldn't want to wear a perfume that your ex wore though..and it would be a constant reminder of your ex. Do you want that?..
I got my fave perfume in Ireland and I haven't been able to get it cheap here and it ran out. I got it on ebay for £15 for a big bottle and it was genuine. I was really chuffed.

perfume is estee lauder dazzling silver.
It gives me a warm loved up glow inside but doesnt actually make me think of my ex (it has been so long, and i was sooo young when we went out). But hell, if she doenst like she can toss it in the back of the cupboard with her granny perfumes.

I haven't tried that one or heard of it. What does it smell like?
First off-i would never buy chicks perfume without consulting them(this does take the surprise away) but it saves all the grieve cos you've bought somethin she doesnt like, so doesnt want to say anything etc-and in the end is a waste of money cos she wont wear it-if she doesnt like it.
On the issue of cos it was your ex's-i agree jus dont tell her!-keep it nice and simple!
