when unis give a range of entry grades like AAB - BBB (exeter for geography), why is there such a huge range?!

My subjects are geography maths and french, so is it those with good academic subjects and really good personal statements that get given the offer at the lower end of the range? :/

    It's only a two grade range :p:

But yes offers vary (on most courses) depending on what they think of your application - the PS, grades, subjects, reference, interview etc.

    Erm, thanks

As to the OP, you just don't know what offer they're going to give you. I think most of mine were AAA/AAB, and the 'required grades' went from AAA to BBB, so really, you just can't tell!

The reason is because the offer they give you will vary depending on a number of factors. Often they will invite you for an informal chat which will help determine the offer you're given.

The fact they offer a range simply means they're lenient with the offers given; this doesn't, however, mean they're lenient when it comes to results day.
