I don't think it would be a problem...
You just put then through the X-ray machine like your other stuff, so it should be fine. Nothing strange should come up, the people screening the stuff in the machine are used to seeing shoes I'm sure :P

I recently flew out of Manchester. They asked us just to put the usual stuff in the trays and walk through, if anything buzzed then they tended to ask you to take shoes off etc.

    Good one.

The shoes generally just go through the x-ray machine with the bags etc.

You'll be fine. If they check your shoes, then they'll check your shoes. You have nothing to hide, and they realise some people have thick inner soles.

If you're really worried about it then put the inner soles in your luggage and put them in after the flight. Is looking a bit shorter for your time in the airport really that important?

They also scan it at Heathrow sometimes. It is NOT in the normal security scan where you put your stuff in the box and walk through. This is usually after that and it is a different machine.

Anyway, you won't have a problem with your shoes. Don't worry!

Thanks for the replies, I'm just a bit wary because I don't want to be held up and embarassed in public lol

Yeah, pretty much. They use this system on and off. They also change their method of operation often.

Either way, you'll be fine. Don't worry about it. :p:

When I flew from Gatwick last year, we had to put our shoes through to be scanned.

Quite a few, my ill-informed friend, quite a few. IRA ring any bells?
