So I am doing my Extended essay in English A1 on the characterisation of two different characters written in different books by the same author: Jane Austen. I am doing it on her two novels: Pride & Prejudice and Emma. I have to nail this because I will definetly screw TOK!

I really need some help on CHARACTERISATION. I really like my reasearch question, but I want to go about it in the correct English literature way, so how do we analyse CHARACTERISATION?

I have no idea, anyone? I am reading the books right now, what should I be looking for?

    Thanks alot! :o:

in my opinion there is no fixed way to go about it. there's no sure fire way to secure a good grade. maybe what you could do would be to look out for general similarities. read both books and get a feel of the characters. are they very similar or radically different? then after that make observations drawing the two together or setting them apart. use examples to support. very important. I think attention to detail is important. and extensive research.
