It's a lot of work to pick up on. However it is GCSE, so it's not too bad.

You have weeks of holiday ahead of you; this is more than enough time to teach yourself the syllabus.

Tell your Head of Science that you want to change, if he/she believes that you're capable enough, the school should sit you for the exam.

Out of interest, why didn't you take it at the start of Y10?

I didn't take it because my school has this stupid system of picking subjects that are grouped together and you can't mix and match
    thanks for the advice

I think it is a requirement of the Key Stage 4 Programme of Study that all students get the opportunity to obtain two GCSEs in Science. This is according to the DFES website. Anyone who has obtained a level six or above also has the right to do Triple Science. Do check first though as some schools will teach Core Science in Year 10 and Additional Science in Year 11. Alternatively, see if you can take Physics GCSE as a single option if this is the science that interests you most. It also has the benefit of covering the full KS4 Programme for Science
