When I'm in a relationship I need a lot of space, does anyone else feel this way? watch

I'm a female and when I get into a relationship I really begin to feel suffocated very easily. I don't necessarily wish to keep in contact daily and it usually upsets the guy. I find it highly irritating to be told constantly that I'm missed and liked and anything else sounding remotely gooey. I would much rather the guy contacted me to tell me about a new exhibition and showed me subtly with his body rather than his words how much he cares, for instance by stroking my hand whilst holding it. I can't stand a guy constantly hugging me, I find it really intrusive of my space.

I'm just wondering if this puts a guy off, or if any other girls feel this way?

you're like a friend of mine, there's no honeymoon phase for her ... it's just constant slow work towards gaining her trust and eventually graduating to holding her hand and all that. You'll be hard-pressed to find a guy that puts up with it, unless he's merely a friend with benefits.

It does sound pretty alienating and could easily be misconstrued but I see where you're coming from.

I'd be fine with that. I like my own space too. Quite frankly, it's the actions of partners that let me know if things are going good. It's easy to say "I love you", even when things are going down the pan.

Exactly the same. Some guys like it, some get used to it, some can't stand it at all.

In some ways im similar to you, i find that actions mean alot more then words, the whole "i love you" saying that over and over it starts to lose some of its meaning etc.

I guess you just have to find a guy that can understand, thats life really you are looking for someone to be with and eventually he will come along, and im sure it will be soon

If your around each other 24/7 it would drive anyone sane crazy. I prefer to go without contact for days then have a longer chat every once in a while. I wouldnt find it off putting to much, It havent in the past but it makes me feel faintly embarrassed.

Maybe it's just the type of guy? Nothing worse than the clingy type who say "I miss you" even to your face.
