There's a prat on Facebook, who is called Owl Moondrop I kid you not.

Unsurprisingly, its a vegan femanist in favour of "gender neutral titles" such as the non-existant "Mx"

Although I agree with others who've said that it seems like a ridiculous idea to change your name for your reasons, I'll respect your choice. Why don't you take the meaning of your name and find its equivalence in Japanese?

How about the latest Japanese "trendy" name, which is:

    Real name.

    I love Japanese.
I am learning Japanese, and hoping to live in Japan in the future.
Does it seem as tragic now?
Yes. Yes it really does. It's like me going to live in Germany and changing my name to Ingolf.

How so? It will allow me to integrate into Japanese society more fluently.
They'll realise that your name is fake, based on the fact that you're clearly not Japanese.

Fake? I'll have a deed-poll document to show them!

While I'm there, I might insist on being called Wolfgang. Name tourism ftw!

I hate to break it to you but whatever you do, you'll never be Japanese...

    I suggest the name Emal
    Is that intentionally 'lame' backwards?

Indeed. I wouldn't even change my name to a Hungarian name even though I am Hungarian.

"Hi, I'm no longer called Michael, I'm now Mihály." What? Even Hungarians call me Mike (as best they can :tongue) - name changing is lame, unless you're running from a hitman, in which case it might be cool.

You'll be jsut like one of those call centre guys who phones up from Bangladesh, but still insists that his name is Simon, or whatever.

Maybe it won't be "fake", but you still won't be Japanese, just because you gave yourself a foreign name.

I can straighten my hair to cover my eyes and wa-la! Undifferentiable between Japanese people. I have quite narrow eyes, anyhow; I can just make them narrower.

    Japanese.

    I actually like that name.
Suggest a surname to go with it, if you can, please?

This is just plain bonkers. You don't change your name because you're bored of it.
    Why not?

You only get to live once, why not have a name you want?

How is she (or should I perhaps say 'it') pronouncing that?
