I have started some summer reading, but am finding it difficult to choose a few books for my "Britain in World War Two" module. So much has been written about the subject, I'm lost in the long lists of books! I was hoping that posting here would give me some good reccommendations. The themes that I need to pay attention to are as follows: the formation of strategy, the difficulties of alliance warfare, the experience of combat, the impact of the war on Britain as global and imperial power, the role of intelligence, cultural mobilisation and collectivism.
I have some rather general books that I am reading, that are based on primary sources and tend to concentrate on the Home Front, which is all good, but I'd like some guidance on books that look at the battle front and the themes above.
Any particular Historians who you can reccommend and/or a look at the historiography of the period would also be much appreciated.
It's for a second year uni module
Many thanks in advance
