certainly with stockings they stay in place far better than tights which seem to be always slipping down if i do wear them - only ocassionally wear holdups and dont really trust them! the comments i do ignore though at 6th form earlier this year there was a period it was just damed annoying
The best hold-ups I've found are ones from Primark, would you believe? They just don't move! Do you wear a suspender belt, then?

yes - i find with s suspender belt there is never any chance of them slipping - i just dont really feel that confident with just holdups, especially at 6th form

Is it a four or six-strap one? I've been after one for quite some time now. Know anywhere good?

Where do you guys buy your suspender belts?

Any recommendations for decent ones that will last the whole day, and are not just designed for the bedroom? Preferably with metal clips rather than plastic ones.

I hzve stockings too :yep: they're way comfier than tights!
I can't wear hold ups (had a big rash last time I wore them where the silicone band is so presumably I'm allergic) and my two suspender belts are actually from la senza :p: which sounds horribly tacky, but they're relatively plain (one is black, the other white) with a lace panel at the front, which is actually quite pretty I've found the clips on mine to be pretty good, despite them being plastic. I had one with metal clips but the clips rusted when I left the belt on the line to dry and the heavens opened

i am really fed up with peoples reaction when they notice i am wearing stockings (which is not very often as i absolutely do not fluant them)

why do people just immediately think you are trying to be sexy or something - i just wear them because i prefer them - its happened a cou0ple of times now - are they really that taboo and im just not realising it?
Sorry you've had to put up with that. I wear stockings with a suspender belt pretty much everyday (except when I'm on placement and have to wear awful cotton/nylon trousers at the hospital) and have had some comments over the years. If I've been getting changed at the gym or in communal changing rooms, I've had people say things like "I know what you're up to tonight" and when I've been buying stockings (my everyday ones are from M&S), I've often been asked by the woman serving me if I know that they're stockings.

I suppose with you being at school, some of the other students just aren't that mature and associate stockings and suspenders with the bedroom as places likes Ann Summers make them out to be sex wear.

I guess it's because they're also sexualised in the media quite a lot. However, I wear them because they're comfier, more practical and more hygienic than tights. When I used to wear tights, I found that I was constantly having to pull them up and ended up with the crotch somewhere near my knees!

What sort of comments have you had? Nothing too bad I hope.

    Hi

I generally only wear my 6-strap belts and have had some really good ones from www.stockingshq.com

They're not overly cheap (about £25) but have good thick straps and metal clips. I tend to wear M&S stockings as well which are quite elasticy and never have any problems with them slipping down or coming undone. I have a couple of cotton suspender belts from stockingshq that are sooo comfy. I think the polka dot one I have is discontinued but they still do a pinstripe one. Would really recommend that one if you're going to wear stockings out and about.

I certainly wouldn't buy anything from La Senza and places like that. The belts are usually really pretty but no use for everyday wear with their thin straps and plastic clips.

    Hope that helps!

I wear them (in fact I asked the same question on this forum not long ago!) I don't get why they're sexy anyway, they're things our Gran probably wears/wore! But I think because they're 'sexy' and not commonly worn that people immediately think you're planning to hook up with someone and thats why you're wearing them.

I'm pretty sure you've posted the same thread before. Are you some stocking fetishist posing as a school girl?
Are you sure it wasn't my thread you were wondering about? I posted the same thing a few months ago.

I really need to buy some. Hold ups fall down, and tights are just.. ugh.

So the general consensus (after reading that other thread up there) seems to be avoid the flimsy suspender belts like ones from La Senza?

Stockings have just been so sexualised: it's pretty much reinforced that stockings + pretty girl = yay! And it helps that they're capable of being taken of in a sexy kinda way. Taking tights off without looking like grandma just isn't possible.

I'm tempted to try stockings, tights make the back of my thighs hate me.

Cos not a lot of people wear them regularly nowadays so EVERY single place that does nice undies and sex toys automatically sticks their models in stockings to make them look sexier.

I like wearing stockings, they are a lot comfier than tights and you don't sweat or have to worry if you have camel toe (or if you do, how to get rid of it without people noticing) However, my bf thinks I should wear them constantly, as they're sexy!?!?!? Trying to explain to a man that something is practical too is a very VERY hard thing
He's such a noob. He should be telling you to wear them constantly as they're practical.
