Funnily i do like indie music. And in terms of mainstream indie my top 3 would be:

    The Killers - Mr Brightside
    MGMT - Time To Pretend
    The Strokes - Reptilia

Just, you named a top indie songs of all time post and named 3 of the worst indie songs going - all mainstream crap stuff - and your username is of a band who possess no musical talent. I don't care whether you like this stuff or not as i have friends who like some of the stuff but it's just the way you have worded the thread and as you have no musical knowledge then why the hell post a thread about it?
Yeah, because the three bands you mentioned aren't mainstream crap at all.

Nope, they're not. I hate music elitists who think all mainstream music from this decade sucks. Wrong - there is good stuff amongst the sh1te.

 You state your opinions like fact. That's only what i do. But seriously, i would like to see your list of fave bands. For the record for band music i will always prefer the late 60s and 70s for bands like Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Rainbow etc. But the bands i had named are very good anyway and i don't feel embarrassed at liking them. I listen to music for enjoyment's sake and not for any elitist reason.

If you're not going to be elitist about something then don't try to inflict your opinion on others. It's hypocritical. There's nothing wrong with being elitist.

Not that it really matters, but as far as 'bands' go and not singular artists, I suppose QotSA, Radiohead and Pink Floyd are my 3 favourites. Not that they're really indicative or representative of my taste.

I guess we're talking the modern definition of indie, rather than the bedroom-rock stuff of it's origins... :p:

Don't Look Back Into the Sun - The Libertines
    Helicopter - Bloc Party
    Neighbourhood #3 (Power's Out) - Arcade Fire
    Evil - Interpol
After Hours - We Are Scientists
Monkey's Gone to Heaven - Pixies

    The Killers - Mr Brightside
    Vampire Weekend - A-Punk
The Smiths - This Charming Man
Death Cab for Cutie - I will follow you into the dark
Rooney - If it were up to me
Kings of Leon - The Bucket
    Kasabian - Clubb Foot
Postal Service - Against all odds
    to name a few

Can i just say this thread kinda upsets me as i thought indie kids were meant to be tolorent of other peoples tastes! Whenever i go to indie clubs they always have right nice atmospheres and no *****y girls in the corner. Does it matter if someone likes mainstream stuff? mainstream can be good why cant we like it if its popular? indie has changed and can incorporate different styles that can still be called indie. you dont just have to just like that type of music! Indie is my favourite type of music but i also like a bit of drum n bass and dub-step! i dont think we should put people down just because they like the killers and the strokes! at least their not chavs! i used to be proud to call myself a lil indie kid now im not so sure....
