    Hi there

I have been recommended to have glasses by an optician who has told me to wear the same glasses all the time, whether it be for long distance or short distance. This seemed odd to me (they aren't bifocals either). Has anyone else had this?

    thanks x

I was told to wear glasses even though I didn't need them, all about money making I guess. Though in your case you may well have to, I'm no expert

I wasn't told to wear them all the time but I do anyway. Don't want contacts and they improve my stigmatism at all distances.

Well, only you know whether they make a difference or not - some can't see very far without, which is kinda dangerous.

    What're bifocals???

So you wear them for long distance and short distance when you don't have bifocals?

I don't have bifocals or varifocals. (which I believe my dad has)

What tosh! The only reason why my vision has become worse in the last 2 years (although it has stayed the same since October) is because of the problems I have with my eyes, which glasses can't correct.

If what you say is true, then explain the following me to:
In 2007, I got new glasses. Last year, they became useless and it took my eye doctor 6 months to work out a suitable prescription for me. I got told that they will feel odd because I now have a different prescription, because I'm now slightly less short sighted. (but have poorer vision)

You can't be both. You're either short sighted (myopic) or long sighted (Hyperopic). Which one are you?

I dont know, he just told me that my glasses will solve the fact that everything is blurry close up or far away

Maybe you're short sighted in one eye and long sighted in the other...that gives you the possibility of glasses solving both problems

You're probably short sighted. I am too and wear my glasses all the time - I only have one pair.
