Im going on holiday for 5 days with my boyfriend at the end of August but don't know where to choose. Itll be our first holiday together so want it to be really amazing.

So background info: We have a budget of around £350 each as were both poor students. I have only been to paris before and I was only about 11 so too young to really appreciate it. He has only been to rome before but loved it. What we're looking for is nice weather, good food, good wine, lots to do and see and just a really nice place to stay. So all things considered what would you recommend, Barcelona, Rome, Paris or some other unmentioned european city even? I don't know enough about any of them

IF you only have 350 quid, I wouldnt go paris, that place is goign to be WAY more expensive. Barcelona will probably be the cheapest place to go and theres plenty to see and do, rome would be good if your interested in romans and stuff.

t is one of the few cities with an awesome beach....with 2 of the most beautiful ports u will ever see at each end...port vell and port olimpic

and my favourite plac ein barca is placa espanya. me and my gf travel a lot. i've never had such a great night in my life as i did at placa espanya http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_1RU...eature=related

if u like football... the nou campo tour is the ultimate thing to do

oh and if you like people spotting, there is a poarticular mooring spot on the edge of port vell where only the biggest yachts are alowed to park. i've been to barca 3 times...2004, 2005 and this year....so far in this bay i have seen the yachts of larry ellison (4th richest man in world. yacht called rising sun), bill joy (found of sun microsystems. one of richest men in america) and james packer (richest man in australia). if you like namedropping :p:

take it from a trevller... do not waste your time on paris. and barca has the edge over rome

Went to Paris with my girlfriend in November, had a really good time. We went for the weekend and including all costs spent about £400 (total, not each), so not too bad really. I have never been to Barca or Rome, though both are place that I want to visit.

Paris is great if you don't go there thinking "French people are rude", as most aren't and are very happy to help you should you get lost or need any help with anything.

Don't go to Paris... it's pricey as hell.

    Barcelona is a good choice.

Rome as well... but there are lots of other beautiful places in Italy. Florence, Naples... Venice, Siena.

Barcelona is immense... so idiosyncratic and plenty to entertain you, day and night (that sounds really pervy but it's not meant to be... xS) AND GREAT FOOD

yep forgot about the food. sure, italian food is nice.....but at the end of the day you c\n get it easily in the uk...same with french food. but the barcelona restaurants are pretty amazing...especially if you like seafood. me and me gf had a 2 person fish stew on the rambla at 2 am (the city never sleeps. i know it's a cliché but in barca it is so true) with cuttlefish, lobster, crab, massive prawns, squid, octupus, mussels and god knows what else for less than 15 pound a head....surrounded by street performers...some doing caipoeira, some playing reggae and it was still hot as ****. i dont care how good the nights out are in rome or paris...i guarantee barca is the best

and the paella in barca is cheap as ****...and in terms of quality second to none

if fish isnt your thing go for the traiditonal iberian ham on catalan bread...going in most places but i'd particularly recommend toc de mar on the barcaloneta end of port vell....cut fresh of the bone in front of your table.....ham and bread might not be the obvious choice at a restaurant.....but iberian ham on catalan bread is GORGEOUS

and as for the money situation. tbh 350 is pushing it for 5 days...but barca is, despite it's superiority to the other 2, easily the cheapest place to go. i'm sure you could get a reasonable hotel for that with 250-300 left to spare. in terms of location though...try to avoid staying outside of either eixample, the gothic quarter or barcaloneta as this is where most, not all...(guell and nou camp are far away...but you can use taxis.....there is also a beautifl cable car ride from port vell up to montjuic park (coincidently which is right by placa espanya....easily spend a cheap day just walking this area))...of the sights are and this will allow you to do most of it on foot.
