I really wish people wouldn't go around saying stuff like this. Mental illnesses are hard enough to understand as it is and sufferers have enough of a stigma without having to deal with people saying things like this, which are completely belittling. Chances are if you got to A levels without any special treatment in school you don't have ADHD.
in my experience adhd has been overused as a label simply given to excuse the bad behaviour of alotta kids.
my little brother was proclaimed to be an adhd. rubbish, he was just an amoral little tearaway

hmmm peculiar..... if I had been sent to a doctor to be diagnosed for adhd whilst I was about 7-9, I reckon I would have been diagnosed as positive. But I don't think I would be diagnosed positive now. Is it a disorder which goes away over time?

In the US, it's scary to see the number of kids who get treatment for it... A friend of mine was an au pair and the kids she was looking after all seemed to be following treatments. As soon as their child isn't learning to read fast enough it's "Omigod! Our poor baby has ADD! Get the pills... "

In case the same theory of labeling is applied to myself, I am not trying to shift blame or whatnot for my actions. I seem to be experiencing most of the Impulse, lack of attention and restlessness symptoms.

And to SammieD, Why is it that you assumed the worst? Could it not be that I am sincere and actually worried? I am not out to belittle ADHD and I am sorry if that is how It came across. I understand that there may well be other explinations for, well, everything, but from what I know, ADHD is a possibility.

And thanks for the feedback all

My sister has ADHD and she is rather out of control to say the least. it doesn't help that she is a compulsive liar as well.

I was going to write a long post detailing my experience with ADHD and my lack of attention span... but I couldn't be bothered.

One of my brownies had ADHD. She was a hand full but she was a nice kid. You just had to handle her differently than the other girls and keep her busy and focused and she was fine. If you suspect you have a problem then see your GP.
