A lot of people in the U.K. and U.S. seem completely disconnected from the traditional strong sense of family that exists in large parts of the world, so I thought this'd be an interesting one.

If you had a choice to choose your family, or your friends from a burning building - who would it be?

Your family are there when relationships go bad. It's your friends who give you a home when you get thrown out of the house by your family.

    Friends.

I find that a lot of younger people <18 will put their friends before their family.
This is because they spend more time with them in and out of school and English culture generally does not instill respect and family values in youngsters. It's mostly a, 'do as a say or you're grounded/won't get your allowance' sort of attitude.
In the eyes of a teenager, all parents do is nag, and all siblings do is make life hell for you.

    Edit: It's sad imo.
