My dad's controlling, my mum's dismissive & I had a strange childhood. I empathise with you a lot.
If this is the case then a good therapist would not look at the diagnosis because such clients need careful empathy, boundaries and limited reparenting. However this particular label is only helpful to set the context of relating past troubles to current difficulties.
OP: Do you experience black and white thinking? for example, are your relationships full of love and hate and nothing in between?
Personally, I don't see any evidence of BPD in the original post, I'm not yet a professional in this subject, my "expert experience" lies in personal experience. I train MH workers on behalf of the DoH in how to work more effectively with PD clients.
