I've only put a CD in the microwave where it turned all sorts of colours and then the microwave smelt of electronics for a couple of days.

I think the things you have to be careful of is anything coated in Silver...

Put an empty packet of crisps in there for like 3 seconds. It shrinks to an almost perfect tiny replica. :borat:

And now I'm also unbelievably tempted to stick a bar of soap in the microwave.

If only you were to put them in the fridge and it would make the bigger!

my dad said it was more likely for the fuse to blow rather than the microwave to blow up
You explained to him that this was not the case, I trust?

    Not metal but...

I once defrosted a muffin in the microwave, but used the "cook" setting. I wondered why it was so damn hot lol

Left it for a while, then ate it. Tasted like an American cookie Mmmmm, tasty :p:

I put my chocolate pudding in the microwave and only when it had finished I realised the spoon wasn't on the side... but nothing happened?

Anyone accidentally put something metal in their microwave and it exploded?
I put a bag of crisps in the microwave once and it went BZZZZZZZZZZZZZ FZZZZZZZZZZZ KABOOM!

It can't blow the fuse because there's no feedback to the electrical circuit in the microwave. It's like saying a gun can be affected by what its bullets hit...

Try the following if you're bored.

    Lightbulb
    Fluorescent lighting tube
    CD
    Lit match
A grape cut in half but not all the way through and separated in a V shape
    what happens with the grape?
