I've sent my interviewer my complete application & all uploads, inc video. But it doesn't feature me in it- just further evidence of my video skills working with young people- I'm hoping this is ok?

I'm so rubbish at sending thing off as complete. I always feel- what If I can make it better, did I miss anything off or explain something wrong!
    But It gone now!

Next plan: Select camps I like the look of to see at recruitment fair! :yep:

Should be fine, only one of my activity photo's had me in it, the one of me riding, the other was just a piece of artwork I'd produced. My applications got one thing left before it circulates, profile picture, was under the impression my passport picture would be fine but apparently it isnt, meaning ive got to take some photos of myself. Shame I lost all my pictures on my old laptop ;(

By accepted- do you mean getting the next set of Q's or accepted on to a camp? I'd have thought your interviewer would have discussed what happens next with you.

My interviewer put up the second set of questions at my interview.
I'm now waiting for my interviewer to review & send my application on to the main office, hopefully before sat!

I need to print off my form for the recruitment fair.
How to do print it off without it excluding questions and changing the skills levels? or should I just write these down instead & take them?

Yes, both of them so far... and I found them hurrendous. Every single one of them no matter what ... yeah come back in half an hour and make sure this is the right camp... and they also after a couple of hours dont want female counsellors they just want male counsellors... just gonna leave it for online now..

My friend has a problem with her camp application & if anyone can help that would be fantastic! Basically she applied through Bunac, along with me, and gave references from school (we both took a gap year) & for a half term kids camp thing she did at the start of her gap year. We both thought these would be acceptable, and her application got sent to the states. However the states have rejected them on the basis that they are more than a year old. So now she can't move forward with her application, and she is at risk of losing her money. The main frustration is that she spent 3 months in Nepal looking after orphans, but will find it Very difficult, if not impossible to get a reference from them, due to the fact the company she went with are based in NZ & the people she stayed with in Nepal hardly speak English. We were wondering if anyone knew of any companies/ camps that might give her a placement, because she has loads of experience but it all falls outside reference requirements (e.g. camp america wont take her cause they need 2 professional references, and she has only been at uni since october 2009, she did work at Sainsburys for a year though) Any help/ ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

References no more than either 6 or 12 months old (i cant remember which it is) are imperative to assess programme suitability and safety to campers and other staff. There is no way round that and your friend will need to get references in order to take part. I would advise contacting the appropriate agency for more information.

Yeh but thats the thing, she can get one from uni & from her job which would both be less than 12 months old, but she has only been at uni since sept/oct, & camp America want 2 references that are people who have known you for at least 6 months!

No not at all... hardly any... infact the whole time I was in the queue for the fresh air fund and whatnot... by 6 oclock they had signed about 4 people up.. I found out that for some camps this isnt even their main recruiting time.. apparently some camps go to universities and privately recruit people. That was what one camp director told me that they do and lots of others do. The recruitment fairs.. are absolutely insane, and in my opinion. unfair.. you queue for a camp at some points for about an hour and a half and as you queue people will walk along the queue saying We are now only looking for male counsellors.. or we are not looking for general counsellors... or we are looking for pottery experts or something random.. and its not fair that you spend time queueing for one camp and you waste your time.. and every single camp tell you to take a look around at other camps and come back in half an hour even if its 5 oclock and youve been there for 3 hours, and have researched them all before hand and crossed off a lot that dont meet your criteria. I saw a few people complaining to the information desk about this. You get there early to make sure you get what you want at the camp you want... but they tell you to go look at other camps first... but if you come late then everything goes... apart from all the random jobs. Its annoying because you go to a camp you want , to be, say a general counsellor.. and they say, sorry today we are only recruiting specialists in aquatics or something.. I think its a complete letdown, and misinforms people so much. Sorry for the poor grammar, in a rush.

Whatever you do... do not try and attempt to get a reference from Sainsburys... its what I'm doing now and its holding my application back. They dont give references to employees, only employers, so my interviewer is having to try sort it all out and then it has to get sent to the head office and then processed and then put on the system... long long process.

Oh god this doesnt sound good. I'm going to the one on saturday and am kind of expecting a bad experience anyway.
I just thought I'd go to give it a shot. Hows your application going? Are you on the database yet?

Just thought I would try and be as honest as possible, no point sugar coating things. If I were you, on your way to your camps stall.. literally grab a load of other camps brochures and say youve looked at other camps and make the brochures visible and say this is what I want to do.. kinda wish I had been more forceful with them. I'm not too disheartened because my interviewer said theres 900 more camps that don't come to the fairs.. I just kinda hoped I would get recruited this week Im not on the database yet because my interviewer is sorting out one of my references, as its beyond my control... probably gonna take weeks.. I'm not in a good mood!lol

Wahoo I got placed (not at the camp fair though), Im going to Fresh Air Fund on 14th June, as a Journalist Specialist. I wish everyone good luck with their apps...sorry to hear about the bad experiences at the recruitment fair. You know what a lot of camps find Camp America expensive to apply through (which may be why not much recruiting is going on but tbh in 07 ALOT of people got placed at the fairs), if anyone is planning to do a new app I would do it through Camp Leaders, I assume they pay a lesser fee to the Camps because my camp recommended them. I applied to my camp direct, did CA in 2007.....anyway Im rambling now good luck y'all

But surely they can't expect you to have a look at all the stalls if you know for certain the camps you want to go to? Thats rediculous! Sounds irritating!

I'm on the database but things are going slowly which is not good

Ahh... it's so frustrating.. looking back on today I can laugh because I got in such a tizz over it all.. my interviewer had a couple of other camp america workers with her and they were all like I didn't get recruited at camp, I got recruited 2 weeks before I went, or whatever, it seems like the minority get recruited. I'm actually quite tempted to come to the London one now...
