Guys be positive there is ages and ages to go until summer so you have loads of time to be positive. Search ACA which is American camp association and find camps you like. Email the camp and see if they work through camp america, it never hurts to try!!

Ahh... it's so frustrating.. looking back on today I can laugh because I got in such a tizz over it all.. my interviewer had a couple of other camp america workers with her and they were all like I didn't get recruited at camp, I got recruited 2 weeks before I went, or whatever, it seems like the minority get recruited. I'm actually quite tempted to come to the London one now...
Yeah it does seem like low numbers, even on the Facebook Group.
I'm intrested in places such as Camp Blue Ridge as well, and there is no way they will need someone like me
    I will try though!
What camps did you look at/what were there responses. Did you consider all camps or just the ones you shortlisted?

I'm going with BUNAC and as of today every single form needed is with them - so how long roughly from this point did it take you lot to get placed?

Its a Brother/Sister camp. I'm still in disbelief and scared they might call me and tell me there has been a big mistake!

Well you never know they could do! ARGH.
It was good for those who got hired etc, but I think alot of people seemed to be browsing rather than battling it out for the places they were intrested in.
Many seemed dissapointed and the majority of camps were looking for extremely specialist skills.

I wento to the London rf with 3 friends 2 of which were placed and I was also placed!!! So I'm of to to Camp Mendocino in California!!! It was my first choice!!

I started queuing at about 10:30 and got in fast. It was freezing outside. Went to Mendo first but she said come bk i'll recommend you. I thought she was just saying it. I then went to loads more but nothing. It was when I was waiting in line for Getschow that I decided to try mendo again. Then I talked to another girl she said ok wait to talk to the director and first girl I spoke to was giving me thumbs up I spoke to the director for a while told her my skills interest and experiences and she was like so do you want to do this. I was like YESSSS!!! then I walked away in shock!!!!! It was mad the first girl was like congratz. Those girls were so nice, the nicest I spoke to at the fair! I can't wait. Flying out to Camp Mendocino 14th June to San Fran airport as Genral Cousellor

I hope those that weren't placed at the fair get a place soon. There's always the London fair on 27th February. Good luck all

I've been so bad at contributing to this thread - PS help has taken over my tsr life Now the UCAS cycle has ended I might be around a wee bit more as I can actually move into different areas of tsr, yay!

I was employed at a very crazy and non traditional but amazing environmental education camp in MA in the summer of 2007 (can't believe it was that long ago!) after my first year at uni  I was around a lot in gap years last year but then got swallowed by PS help... ah well! I didn't even apply until the end of Feb the year I did it, then had my interview in March. I was placed in April... so if you're moaning now about not being placed you need to calm down and wait a wee while longer - most placements happen in March, April and early May.

    Congrats! Mendocino looks really nice!
I think from what I've heard alot of people get placed when they end up going back to a stall they were intrested in - its like they test you and see if you end up returning to the stall.

I'm so chuffed with my placement. I'm leaving for Che-Na-Wah on the 20th of June. Can't wait now! After meeting loads of the girls who were absolutely lovely I just can't help feeling dead excited. I was nervous before but now i can't wait!

Yeah I was so happy when I got placed, it felt so unreal. I just walked around like a zombie after that (a smiling bubbly zombie). I cant wait to see the camp and Cali. I saw pictures from one of the returners trip last year and it all looked so amazing!!

I went to the Edinburgh Recruitment Fair on Tuesday there and got a place for Camp Vega, all girls camp in Maine. Looks really nice and was sooo excited but when I came home last night I had an email saying my application had been unsuccessful. Obviously I was raginnnn cause I'd been told I had a place so I phoned up this morning and they said I should still have my place. I don't understand why my online membership has been cancelled but or how to go about sorting it out to make sure I still have my place. Anyone know anyone thats been in a similar situation?

I'm going for a new job, and they're willing to pay for my CRB, does that mean that I don't have to pay the £35 to do it with CA?

If it is for a similar job then CA sometimes accept it if it was done within 6 months or less.
