My camp ends on Aug 14th, but I know many are for longer. It varies.

Diamonds - Thats REDICULOUS. I can't believe that!
I know... it's because my interviewer ended interviews this season so the office removed all people from her list that had selected her.. along with me who has already had the interview! I really am losing hope in me going this year.. I don't know if I can fill out my application that you get after the interview because I dont even know if im back on the system yet or not. urghhh!

Don't give up! I really didn't think I'd go until I got placed last week. To be honest I still feel like someone is going to contact me and be like HA. Your not going now!

So many people are in your position, and most camps havn't started looking yet.

    What do you specialise in?

I didnt really want to specialise in anything, I wanted to do lifeguarding, or be a general counsellor, if I had to specialise it would be dance. Which I've heard is quite popular. Ahhh

I'd say specialise if you can. General counsellor positions are really low on the ground this year apparently.
I think dance is popular but loads of the girls camps want it. I know that on the rec fairs there were loads of the stands looking for dance specialists and gymnasts. I know mine was definately!

:woo: College have said that if I give myself a deadline date, (say, a week after my GCSE exam) then I can get off a bit earlier. So wondering what date to put now - My last exam is the 11th, and I need to make sure I give myself time to be certain I have everything done. I'm thinking 15th/16th?

Ah, just had this email -
"Thanks for you application. Camp America has seen unprecedented demand for places this year and as such has stopped taking applications in most areas:

    http://www.campamerica.co.uk/news-fi...tion-update/60

Applications for all areas close at the end of this month and as a result I do not have any interview slots remaining I am afraid.

You should also be aware that before I could interview you we would have been required to complete a medical disclosure form which includes exact detail regarding your *(what I feel is minor!) medical condition* and also provide a doctors note. Your application would be judged on the basis of this information and on an individual case basis.

I am telling you this as you look like a strong applicant otherwise and it would be great to see you reapply next year.

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance at this time."

So I guess that means my plans are over before they've even begun?

Yeah me too, I'm a Brownie leader.
You could try emailing some camps and see what they say - I know alot of people seem to have been doing this. But obviously you need to make sure your application is back in the system first!

No of course not! Loads of people are still in the same position! I met loads of people with experience etc at the rec fair who are still waiting.

    Hey

I've kind of decided quite late that I would like to do a Camp America type thing (I'm currently looking at Bunac of CCUSA though I have no idea which would be better - how do you decide!)

Anyway, my fear is that I might have left it to late? I know you can still apply but are my chances of getting somewhere good lessened by the fact that I'm only applying now?

Also, how much choice do you get of where you're placed? Out of Camp America, Bunac, CCUSA, is there generally one considered better than the others?

    Thanks for any help!

I got placed at the recruitment fair in edinburgh for camp vega. so glad i went to that as you all seem to be going through a lot of hassle trying to get interviews and what not. hope it gets sorted for you, and if its unsuccessful and your trying again next year, i strongly recommend recruitment fairs, saves a lot of waiting around and worrying as you find out on the spot usually (as far as i know, thats how it worked for me ). good luck guys!

Drat - CCUSA have a recruitment fair in London this weekend that I could have gone to if it wasn't for work. Somehow don't think they'll be too impressed if I were to ask for a day off though.

Would have been nice to think I could have got it sorted in one day
