Yeh I live in Scotland but I would love to go the fair. Also I have noticed that I stained glass is a listed activity that isn't full that I've done for a couple of months now soo maybe that I'll help me. So Im Going fill the form out now and see if I can get an interview ! thanks for ur help
Well guys... I think I'm giving up on this. My interviewer has turned around and said she can't help me with my references anymore. My work will only speak to her about my reference and get from her where it needs to be sent. And she said ''she cant get hold of them''. So I'm screwed. Good luck everyone :frown:
Hey, im heading to the fair on saturday, I only just made the last lot of interviews that my interviewer was doing, im heading to the fair to see if theres anywhere will take me on, is anyone else heading there? does anyone know of any good camps?

Timberpointe Outdoor Centre(TPOC), in Illinois  - its the one I went to and I can recommend it!!!
Just been rejected by CCUSA. Can't really understand why as have plenty of experience with kids and a good range of skills even if I didn't really have teaching experience with any of them. Thought they would have least given me the chance of an interview as didn't think my application was so weak as to have been dismissed without a second glance. So yeah, I'm a little gutted about it and the feedback wasn't very specific. Guess I'll just have to spend a year building my skill levels up and then try and apply earlier next time.

ive got a good range of skills- mostly sports or drama related, and one of my skills is in high demand. i have experience coaching sports to kids as an assisstant coach but i applied REALLY late and havnt been interviewed, im counting on the fair. Can anyone tell me if i actually stand a chance of being recruited on saturday?

Tough one, the camps are looking for very specific staff and they have a lot to pick and choose from.

If you have a camp type personality and possibly qualifications in sports they are looking for you may stand a chance.

Hi there have you looked at BUNAC KAMP. I didnt have that much experience working with kids either but i still wanted to go to camp. I worked at a summer camp in pensylvania usa and I had the best time. KAMP is basically support roles at camp so it includes working in the kitchen or office. I worked in the kitchen and met so many great people, i even picked up some mad cooking skills along the way and we got to enjoy all the perks of being at camp ie use all the equipment, socialise with the counsellors etc I also got to travel to some awesome places afterwards eg new york grand canyon etc. BUNAC were really great and they are a non profit organisation so their prices are affordable. If i remember correctly this is the same time last year that i started my application... so if thats something your interested dont give up hope you could still have the greatest summer of your life. anyway hope that helps... all the best xxx
Just got back from the London Recruitment Fair and I'm ecstatic because I got placed

I have applied to do KAMP for this summer and have passed the interview stage/paid the next installment just have to send off all the documents. Just a quick question, how long did it take for you to get a placement and did you have to give in all your documents before BUNAC started looking for a placement for you? Also i've read in a few places that some pple felt that they weren't integrated into camp life as much when they did KAMP did you find this? thanks

I have done Camppower with Camp America, I worked in the office, which meant it was only me and one other girl- whereas there were PLENTY of kitchen staff. You make friends with the counsellors and it is kind of not the same because you are not doing all the activities but on the other hand you have a lot of free time to talk to the counsellors/campers and do other things (reading, town trips etc).

I think if you dont know whether you would like to be responsible for kids 24/7 the best way to Camp at first is through Kamp. A lot of counsellors in my specific camp were really stressed out although they did enjoy one- one wanted to swap roles with me :s-smilie:

The whole feeling of camp is magical so you will have an amazing time. Plus your much more likely to be placed and the following year it is easier to get a general counsellor role. I am going back as a counsellor this year. x

I did a Trek America tour last year, and though I enjoyed it I wouldn't do it again. It was good in that you got to meet some cool people but all of us agreed it was quite a rip off by the end of it when you can do all of the same things yourself for about a quarter of the price. Also bear in mind there are some things that aren't included in the price; alongside the food etc there are a few days where we went to expensive restaraunts or had change of plans where we stayed in hotels, all adding to the cost!

Hey, I'm doing summer camp with bunac this year, got my place in January, and I'm getting so excited about it now! I'm waiting to hear from the embassy what time my appointment will be for my visa - I'm going for that on April 22nd, if anyone else is going to be there on the same day.

I'm so excited to be going this year, got all geared up last year with CA, was on Ready Steady Go until the last second but it didn't work out, so to have everything sorted by this point is great!

Anyone else going to camps in New Jersey?

Was wondering if anyone can help me with this, i applied for Camp America and filled out the application form.

I was not successful and not offered an interview, when will i expect to have the deposit back?

Just a bit worried that i might get shafted out of 60 quid.

Cheers
