Search my posts, there was one chav in a saxo that tried to race my vti civic. Needless to say before I hit vtec I was ahead. They are responsible for our high insurance as they are involved in more crashes than anyone else.

it just kick in y00000000

oh, and i didn't know there was a demographic called "Boy racers" (or "chavs"?)

Dearest friends from the last two posts!

We all know Honda's are tinny, slow and sh*t ... Say what you will defendants, but against what I run, you have no competition...

Haha I like how me and TheGimpMan had exactly the same idea at almost exactly the same time. I almost used the picture he used too, but I remembered the one I used from somewhere else and thought it was slightly better :p:

I go there to show them what a real car is lol, also get to see my ex work mates. Plus a mate owns a Polo G40 so makes it worth while.

ahh i get you now =] and yeah, jap cars are the best
LawBore
Sorry, I didn't quite get that?

You racing off from traffic lights against chavs doesn't make you one? Stand back and have a look from the big picture mate.

Glad you agree:wink:

I modify my car.
Admittedly my choice of car is a little unusual and my modifications are rather more extreme - think engine / gearbox / rear axle changes.

Its too easy to lable everyone who modifys cars as yobs.

This is "Neck snapper". It started life as a 1.8 litre four cylinder and ended up as a wheel standing. 6 mpg, 3.5 litre V8 muscle car with a host of other modifications including suspension and braking mods

This is, or will be "Neck Snapper II". So far just the suspension mods and a few aesthetic things - front spoiler, rebuilt lowered stiffened front suspension + steering, raised rear suspension, a few interior mods and a period set of alloys.
Eventually will become a 3.5 litre V8 automatic.

I don't think my cars are particularly chavy as such and I resent the implication that anyone who modifys there car is an antisocial lout.

It's hard not to :frown: Honestly though, I'm quite the opposite of a chav.

This.

I get a lot of stick as I do actually go to monthly meets that, shock, are held in various carparks.

But not everyones the same, our lot despise the little scrotes that turn up doing wheelspins and such.

I hate how people look at cars like these and think of them as 'chavmobiles' :frown: ...

I actually despise these chavs in ****** 1.poo 1990's corsa clios etc with the massive exhaust, think they are good doing their handbrake turns and stuff.

However, i despise people who GENERALISE 17 year olds who have a modded Corsa as chavs, yet have no idea about cars.

I'm 17 and have a modified Corsa C 1.8 SRi. I know you all like jumping on the bandwagon and by reading this i will probably be the subject of abuse because I'm generalised as a chav.

I have over 20 modifications on the car ranging from black tints to things none of you en educated idiots will have heard of.

Now believe me, if i had the money I would be driving around in better car, but for a 17 year old, who is paying 2800 on insurance, paid 3800 for the car, is in FULL TIME EDUCATION and works FULL TIME, a 155 BHP car is better than driving some 300 pound trashy vehicle.

Lets face it, i'm not a Chav at all, I just enjoy driving and working on my car, and tbh, its better than the mainstream kids of todays society..

Mainstream student: Im in a band, beat that.
Me/Everyone else: LOL!

Generalising a little, no? I'm willing to bet the likes of JC and TJ-CJ could blow your puny little Cora ass out the water when it comes to car knowledge. Not much of my car is actually original. Engine change, transfer box change, 'modified' body panels , uprated wheels (now military wolf spec), tyres, seats, sound system with scratch built loom, much much more that I can't be arsed to list.

I'm 17, full time education, part time job, yet due to my choice of car I get a 2.5 Turbo engine with full width intercooler :p: Not exactly performance mind you though.

In the 4x4 world, there is more modification and alteration than nearly any other type of motoring. There are meets, auto parts sales (sodbury sortout anyone?) even whole weekends out (Difflock Scotland meet) Hardly chavvy though.

I wouldn't be so quick to band about aggressive comments on here.
Particularly when some of us play with cars that eat corsa's for breakfast.

Throughout uni I as good as BUILT my own car from the ground up given how many mods I did.
Purchase price was £1650, but I spent an awful lot more on that making it go quicker. Infact, the engine I put in was so big it wouldn't fit under the standard bonnet - I had to cut holes in it to make room!

This is a video of my old car. It shows what a propper car with a propper engine sounds like...

That overrun snarl is to DIE for
I agree that many comments on here are simply tarnishing people who enjoy modifying cars as chavs.
Technically according to you're opinions I am a "chav" as I modify cars.

And no I dont put loud exhausts and spoilers on my cars unless they benefit the performance of the vehicle.

Currently I drive a MK3 Ibiza Cupra 1.8 turbo, yes it has a loud exhaust which adds to performance as well as various other engine modifications from cold air feeds to a bigger turbo to a remap. The car runs about 245bhp and I enjoy driving fast.

By no means though am I an irresponsible driver who takes risks either putting my or others lives at risk.

I've been to Santa Pod and a few race/track days where I can take advantage of driving without breaking laws.

Yes I do meet with other enthusiasts, yes often in car parks, not to razz around causing havoc and leaving tyre marks all over the roads, but to socialise with people of similar interest.

I am a boy and enjoy racing where its safe (on the track), so does this make you have the opinion that I'm a chavvy tw*t who crashes and increases your premiums?

Also just to point out, because I am an enthusist and member of a car club, I actually get discount on insurance, so there must be something to prove that we are maybe safer, less risky drivers?

I really don't think you've read the thread, have you? This is what we have been saying. Tasteful modifications, or modifications that actually have a notable impact on the cars performance are fine. Cheap crap from Halfrauds and then driving like a **** are what we generally don't like.

Well.. that's SU carb's for you. There's no way to stop that. The throttlebody may close but the piston takes a moment to settle so a tiny bit of fuel is sucked into the engine and pumped straight out the exhaust valve. The popping sound is petrol vapour exploding in the exhaust.

It was a bit thirsty. When i was building her, she ran out of fuel just as i'd finished tuning her up. So, I poured 2 gallons of petrol in the tank from a jerry can and then sat on the drive in a deck chair drinking a beer listening to her idle... after 20 minutes she cut out... "That's weird" I thought... on investigation it turned out she'd drank the whole 2 gallons just idling!

I was talking about the 95% of people on here that have not got a clue, proven by stupid comments such as "tints on a car make you a chav".

And of course there will be people on here who have faster cars than me lol i'm not stupid.

To be honest your 17, have a car with a 2.5 turbo engine in it and only have a part time job, mummies boy much? I think so..

Excuse me? My part time job pays me about two hundred quid a month. My 2.5 Turbo car is a 1990 Land Rover. My insurance as a named driver is about £150. I pay for the fuel that I use, and my parents pay for the fuel that they use. You paid 800 more for your car than I did for mine, and a damn sight more for insurance. My choice of car graces me with ridiculously low insurance. My location might have something to do with it too (A rated by insurance companies).

I think you need to hang around a bit longer on this forum before you start calling us uneducated idiots (irony there, maybe?) and mummies boys.
