I decided not to post this anonymous, this is really a rant thread and I think I need to voice my opinions, ok so here it goes:
Recently there are many threads saying:
Ow my I am virgin I want to get laid
    or something along those lines
now me a virgin myself(and I have many oportunities of getting laid but I chose not to) look at these threads and think : What is going on? Is the word Virgin the new curse word or something.
As one of the last threads said: VIRGIN is something to be proud of,
and may I just ask you what do you gain when you are no longer a virgin?
Nothing, you get no massive card saying WELL DONE YOU LOST YOUR VIRGINITY or like some medal, but the way people have acting on this thread it is just so appaling.

Now!!!!!! for the people who are not virgins but are with a boyfriend or girlfriend they LOVE! then thats fine, I am totally for that. When you find the right person, and you know it is your time then Go ahead I think that is alright!

But what annoys me is these people who are 16 and want to loose their virginity so fast , like it is swine flu or something, really it shows you have no common sense and you want to be part of the crowd !

When you meet a person in the night club and you loose it to them, they wont care because you dont know them, it is not special and you always have that everlasting memory of that not so happy time.

So for ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DESPERATE to loose their virginity by they go to uni or they turn 16 !
I think you need rethink what you want.

sorry this is kinda a rant thread, but it had to be said

True enough, but at the end of the day, some people really want to lose theirs, as if it's something amazing regardless of context. Go you for being content being a virgin, it's a tough decision to make when everyone else is saying how they don't want to be one, but at the end of the day, people will always want to become nonvirgins, mostly ASAP :p:

People don't want to go out and lose their virginity as such, rather they just want to experience sex.

I totally agree with everything! I'm not a virgin anymore but I didn't loose my virginity at the first opportunity. I waited until I finally had found the right person and I will always remember that lovely moment.

this is something that clinton cards really really should capatilise on.

As for kids wanting to loose their virginity as soon as possible, its because sex is such a taboo thing in the UK. its got nothing to do really with being stupid, its to do with the fact that sex is totally sensationalised by the fact that its just not talked about, and when it is its in a wisper, and alot of the time its fairly romantisised or galmourised (through regular movies and porn respectively).

You cant deny the evidence flowing out of the netherlands, where they have the lowest age for consent in Europe, the lowest rate of teenage pregnancys and a lower rate of sexually active under 18s that the uk. Why? because sex isnt made out to be this mysterious holy grail that it is here. its talked about in families (to have sex under 16 you need parental permission) in the media and is told told for what it is.

Your a women, all you need to do is put on some nice cloths and go to a club. Its not exactly difficult.

Now onto your point. Why do you think losing your viginity is going to be a special occasion, you have romanised the idea and I assure you you will be dissapointed when you do. The first time you have sex will be no where near as good as the sex you have once you've been doing it awhile. I lost my virginity when I was in a loving relationship and I look back on it as bad sex and nothing more.

What is the problem with a person who wants to lose their virginity? Assuming they practice safe sex they will hurt nobody, not even themselves. The emotions that come with sex are more of a social expectation than a reality, a person who has any control over their emotions would have no problems.

You do gain something when you lose your virginity. The pleasure of having sex. It is an enjoyable act and it does not matter who you partake in it with as long as it its consensual. People enjoy it and that alone is enough reason to do it. Again assuming safe sex is practised then nobody is harmed. Its the same as skydiving even when all preventative measures are taken there is a small risk but its fun so people will want to do it and they have a right to do it.

its a fair point. there shouldnt be as much preasure point on virgins IMO. If anything it makes it worse because its so nervous and built up and everyone I know felt "what was all the fuss about?"

If I was a virgin again I wouldnt be as bothered as I used to be. theres no point in racing to lose the V plates.

Nice to get it out of the way and be a bit older and more knowledgable about sex though

I think do it if you want to but dont cave to pier preasure if you wanna wait

I do agree with this as well. There is also this big preasure that it has to be some special magical moment but again its down to what you want from sex.

after a while you realise sex is just sex. With most people is just an animal magnetism. Its great when its someone you love but alot of the time its good to just enjoy it.

Only one partner I have had has ever been like love making and the rest were just sex for the fun of it. I liked both but some people may not

Everyone has to make their own choice about when they lose their virginity and then live with the consequences. I do think that you're more likely to regret getting it over with than waiting for the right person. I don't think there is anything wrong with having sex when you want to but there is something wrong with having sex and then really regretting what you have done. It's your responsibility to make sure you are ready and certain about what you're going to do and sometimes you need to recognise that you're too young to make those kind of decisions.

I think you're stupid, everyone knows that virgins are evil, it even says so in the bible*. Ergo, virgins should be burnt alive because they are obviously witches.

    * - TSR Bible.
be realistic you were a virgin until a certain age.

Why the devil is being a virgin something to be proud of? Damn, that's such ****. It is neither something to be proud of or ashamed of. It's not a virtue, neither is it a negative quality. It just means you haven't had sex. It doesn't make you a better or worse person.
It is something to be proud of. It means the person hasn't given into their hormonal lustful temptations nor have they let peer pressure get the better of them.

What's wrong with wanting to lose your virginity just to experience sex? I don't place any store on my virginity, I'd just like to experience sex, since the consensus is that it's pretty good. I don't have a partner I love, but I want to have sex fairly soon. Losing my virginity at the same time is just a coincidence
Don't you want to experience bungee jumping while your at it? you get to lose your fear of heights while your at it..

I've been bungee jumping, and had no fear of heights to lose. Your analogy, if it even was one because it made no sense, fails
Another analogy if you please .. getting high is pleasureful, would you take drugs?

Another, If your a good person, you'll go to heaven when your dead, why wait? why not now?
    (Original post by Hathlan)
Is being anorexic something to be proud of? You haven't given in to your body's desire for food, how noble of you. :indiff:
Anorexia is an eating disorder .. and food is a necessity, sex is not.

So is this it? Non-virgins will slate virgins and vice versa?

Well if that's how it is, then I pity society today.

I think the slating is more of the people who seem to unjustly consider being a virgin virtuous.
Otherwise, I couldn't give a crap whether someone is a virgin or not.
