    Hi

I was wondering if people have booked all or any of their flights for the year and if so, what dates you picked. As it's my first year im unsure about the dates to pick.

Also do you, or should you be IN st Andrews for the revision week before exams. I'm guessing universities don't do revision classes but wondered if people had an opinion on it.

    Thanks

    Semester dates

Theoretically, lectures could continue until Friday 18th December. I would tend to advise you stay as long as is practically possibly, but a lot of people tend to leave it bit before the Friday, because it's easier. You are unlikely to miss a huge amount of vital information from the last few lectures, but some modules will check your attendance, and too many absences could cause them to remove your permission to proceed - you might want to be careful about that, and possibly mention it to your module coordinators in advance.

Some lecturers have done revision sessions in the revision week, often going through the answers to a past paper. There is variation in how many past papers and solutions are available for different modules, so any revision sessions are potentially quite valuable. What subjects are you likely to be doing?

What about reading week? Do people generally go home during reading week, or is it really dedicated to studies like it says on the website.

(I actually did something rather like what that smiley is doing )
Reading week can be dedicated to studies, if you so wish. Most people leave town and go to do something exciting instead - my flatmates usually go up hills or down rivers for a few days. It is sometimes useful to spend breaks like that doing a bit of catching up, because the lectures and everything can seem to go very quickly.

I'm doing computer science. Still thinking about my other modules, possibly economics.

Thanks for the advice and I'd be interested to hear from any others who want to reply
