Although exagerated, that photo pretty much proves my point. If it wasn't for the cigarette and the way in which he is smoking it, he'd look like a soppy ponce. However, he doesn't because he is smoking a cigarette in a manner which consequently looks "bad-ass".

    It is totally unattractive.

Because you know they could only sit in a room with you for so long before they'd start twitching for a fag, run outside and sit there in a cloud of disgusting smog dragging desperately on a cancer stick they love more than their own health. And cigarettes gradually make people look like yellow ****, and make everything near them smell of ****. Eeew

I don't suppose I'd be any better if I got addicted to them. I feel kind of sorry for smokers.

Most people smoke not because the packet of **** looks cool but because it relieves stress.
They are stimulants. People think they relieve stress but actually they cause you to get wired - it's just coming off them would make you feel worse.

What if the reason they smoke isn't because of addiction? You realise some people do smoke simply because they enjoy it?
I'm sorry but as a smoker who's trying to quit (2 days now) that's not true. If you smoke, it's not because you enjoy smoking it's because you do not enjoy not smoking if that makes any sense. I used to say that I enjoyed it but I was lying to myself, I only enjoyed the nicotine fix.

Either way, smoking at least makes it feel like your stress has been relieved, but why come off smoking, that's for quitters.

Each to there own, but smoke because I enjoy it. I don’t think I’m addicted because I sometimes go for days or weeks without one simply because I don’t feel like it

Smoking is an immediate turn off for me - it doesn't matter how much care a person takes with their appearance, it look gross and smells worse. Smoking most definitely 'lowers the tone' (so to speak)

Apart from poor personal hygeine, one of the biggest turn offs in my opinion. Whether they're in a shell suit or a perfect pinstripe, to be honest.

In the olden days, it used to be seen as cool and the bad boy type which often attracted the girls, take James Dean for example, but then people discovered cancer..

I do agree that it works with some people... I know someone who looks even more attractive when she's smoking.

The grass is less harmful than smoking, well not really if you smoke it all day, but once in a while it is and it relaxes you better.

Smoking is like... say, rubbing your chin. As far as body language is concerned, smoking sends the message that the certain person is thinking about something or is confident about smoking. Obviously, when we see someone smoking it often looks like they're thinking about something deep, meaningful and mysterious. The combination of mystery and confidence generally appeals to people. However, more and more have recently stated that seeing someone smoking is a turn-off, either because of the smell or because of the (somewhat ironic) "lack" of confidence. Surely it's debatable whether smokers are confident or anxious.

The bottom line is that the media has created the image of the rebellious smoker, the stylish smoker, the artist smoker and the mastermind smoker. By associating those quite desirable profiles with smoking, the media has managed to infiltrate this into people's attitudes towards smoking.

Personally, I have got that out of my head and it doesn't work for me anymore. I think smoking is not good. It's like paying to have a slow painful death.

of course it does. Why else would films, print media and advertisers use it to sell. Its an accessory that is used to target at a certain demographic.
    I personally dont like it.

Well maybe you're addicted then, but for me I only smoke when I choose to. For example, it's been 6 days since I last had a cigarette and I don't have any craving for them. And before that I smoked at least 20 a day for about 2 weeks because I wanted to, as I was firstly at a festival and then had another busy week and I enjoy smoking when socialising with people. :dontknow: I don't think everyone does it because they crave nicotine. Well maybe it is the nicotine I crave in those situations, but I don't need it everyday, I choose when I want to feel it.
Oops, this has turned into an awfully long post, apologies lol
