Well maybe you're addicted then, but for me I only smoke when I choose to. For example, it's been 6 days since I last had a cigarette and I don't have any craving for them. And before that I smoked at least 20 a day for about 2 weeks because I wanted to, as I was firstly at a festival and then had another busy week and I enjoy smoking when socialising with people. :dontknow: I don't think everyone does it because they crave nicotine. Well maybe it is the nicotine I crave in those situations, but I don't need it everyday, I choose when I want to feel it.
Oops, this has turned into an awfully long post, apologies lol
Well it appears that you have it under control but just as a word of warning, that's how it started for me. I only really had them when I felt like it and could go for long periods of time without them until it gradually became an addiction. Now I can get through a pack a day if left to my own devices.

You're right though, not everyone does it because they crave nicotine, I've got mates that I give cigarettes to on occasions I just think that it's easy to fall into becoming a smoker if you're not careful.

A 20-odd single-mother walking along the street with 3 kids in their 3-seater push chair, wearing a fake track suit brought from a market, massive ear-rings and a fag hanging out of the side of her mouth is not in any way flattering, and most people would agree that in this case, the cigarette makes the person look worse again.

However, on the other hand, I have noticed that on people who take care with their dress and appearance, smoking a cigarette can often enhance such a persons appearance. If done by the right person, smoking can be quite an attractive quality, and can have almost a mysterious appeal under the right circumstances.

What are you thoughts on this?
Yes, if your idea of enhanced apperance is grey, badly wrinkled skin at the age of 30 and no teeth by 40.

Nope, not at all. It's a real turn off for me. I can be really interested in a guy and as soon as I find out that he smokes, the interest just dies.

So what are you saying, just because you can relieve stress so many other ways you shouldn't smoke?

I can't imagine myself having the time to relieve stress other then having a cigarette in places like lunch during work, breaks during exams/schools, walking/driving to a destination, waiting around, during meals and i especially love to start my day with a fag in bed.

Smoking is like... say, rubbing your chin. As far as body language is concerned, smoking sends the message that the certain person is thinking about something or is confident about smoking. Obviously, when we see someone smoking it often looks like they're thinking about something deep, meaningful and mysterious. The combination of mystery and confidence generally appeals to people. However, more and more have recently stated that seeing someone smoking is a turn-off, either because of the smell or because of the (somewhat ironic) "lack" of confidence. Surely it's debatable whether smokers are confident or anxious.

The bottom line is that the media has created the image of the rebellious smoker, the stylish smoker, the artist smoker and the mastermind smoker. By associating those quite desirable profiles with smoking, the media has managed to infiltrate this into people's attitudes towards smoking.

Personally, I have got that out of my head and it doesn't work for me anymore. I think smoking is not good. It's like paying to have a slow painful death.
You're joking right? You aren't actually trying to imply that the British media is pro-tobacco? Almost all institutions in this country are almost totally anti-smoking.

On certain people smoking is definitely cool, my mate is one of those people. Got a rocker kind of look going.

I find most girls that smoke are usually insecure.

I agree usually it's chavvy though

If you mean the effects of smoking, i.e. yellow teeth, smelly breath etc., then no, but the image, for me, yes
