Why do we, in most places of the world, always relate being in love to the heart?

    any ideas?

I dunno, maybe it's because without the heart you can't live, and as we humans like being rather overdramatic, it's rather fitting, no?

i think its because your heart starts beating mad faster around the one you like / love so that's how the association must have begun and then media furthered the cause. perhaps?

OK, your really struggling with this.
Its called emotion. You can feel your heart, you feel the emotion in it, you feel your heart beat. The chemicals in your body cause it to beat faster and you have a rare feeling towards the person.
Like I said, your (as am I) a little young.

Edit: also, upside down the human heart kinda looks like the Valentine heart we see today.

Maybe because your heart is central to you staying alive, and maybe love is necessary to be emotionally alive? Hence both are needed to keep you alive but in different way? No idea really, sorry for the pathetically cheesy explanation.
