Surely your mum will let you socialis, after all that's what freshers is all about. Is she staying at a lodge/hotel near by?

I know some people had their parents over for a few days since they were from france, but they went out as much as we did.

ive applied to abertay to do ethical hacking & counter measures i've had condtionals from elsewhere but abertay is my 1st choice. i have an interview in feb, says its on a weds but im gonna try and move it to the friday so i can take a look around over the weekend, think they will take a dim view of it? no point in travelling up from midlands if i cant go out on the lash afterwards. just deciding whether to go and buy a suit or will jeans and blazer do? do u think i will be able to get a tour of accommodation? do standard rooms at alloway hall have internet or do i have to get my own? ahh soo excited, nervous and such cant wait lol. sorry i've hijacked the thread i'll post this in a thread of its own.

They may move it providing they have the space to do so.

Since many of the interviews will be taking place around that time they may do a tour of accomodation, although it would be best to email and ask. If its not scheduled, if you ask nicely they may still show you round.

As far as I know the basic rooms have internet but the rooms aren't that big.

Also just to bear in mind, Alloway halls is NOT situated in the town center, hence why its cheaper. Its a good 40min or so walk, or the fintry/whitfield bus.

found out standard rooms at alloway do NOT have internet but the upgraded 1's do.

also been looking at taymills 5min from town centre £73.50 p/w where as alloway is £58 but how much will the taxi's amount to bk from centre after buses have stopped lol

the hub looks very nice but a bit obviously a higher price. hopefully i can get a tour of uni accomodation on interview

Taxi to alloway after midnight will set you back around a tenner.
Also you have a bit of a walk to get to Asda or Morrison for food.

Bear in mind the Hub includes tv liscence (and TV I believe? in the lounge) and is much nicer rooms. There is also a games room and is closer to uni (no buses?) and a lot closer to town if you're on a night out, where, if in a group you'd be fine to walk back.

All the neccessities are in town, the only thing which isn't is things like the cinema, bowling and ice-rink.

what year are you going in to?

Most halls are reserved for first years BUT that generally means anyone in their first year studying there.

See the OASIS thingo, I can't sign in...
I put in my Student I.D. and the password they e-mailed me and it doesn't log me in. I managed to get in once, but I don't think I changed the password, and if I did change the password, I know exactly what it would have been... Shall I just contact Abertay (admin team or something) about it?
