lol. A typical postmodernist sentence in that it says something so obvious its banal, but dresses it up as if its a groundbreaking insight so as to sound clever.

You mean, like, old-fashioned opinions on distinct roles for men and women in society are slowly changing? No way!
It may be an obvious sentence but it has relevance to one of the questions the OP asked.

As for being bisexual, I would never claim myself to be gay, straight or bisexual - the way I see it is I am attracted to individuals. Whether they have a penis or a vagina makes no difference.
On a basic level, it's not really a case of "defining yourself" as being bisexual.

Most people would say they are attracted to a series of individuals, whether male or female or some of each.

As such , "bisexual" is merely a shorthand label we use to describe someone whose list of individuals includes people of both sexes.
Likewise, "heterosexual" implies someone whose list does not include people of the same sex (yet) etc.
(Note I said sexes not genders if you want to be sociologically picky).

Clearly, people do define themselves in such ways however, and many feel an obligation to alter their behaviour to fit in with inferred social expectations.

There is to some extent, a genetic underpinning to this, but thats a whole separate discussion.

    Just a thought...

Greek men used to be bi-sexual. It was encouraged among soldiers.

So I guess society changing has F-all to do with it!

Society doesn't change in a linear progression though. It tends to go through cycles, trends and fashions, occasionally moving backwards towards ignorance and illiberalism (eg the "dark ages" after the decline of Rome, and the recent worrying increase in religious activity).
The only thing that really makes any lasting difference is scientific progress.
