Should I apply for the RAF before travelling? Watch

Hi guys,

I have recently graduated from uni and intend to apply for a career as an officer in the RAF, I have been to my AFCO twice and so have lots of information about various positions but did not ask this question. I am currently working until January and then doing 5-6 months travelling in South America and so would ideally like have already been accepted (fingers cossed) so that I can start when I return next summer. Is any aware whether it is possible to apply now, do the P2P, and OASC in the time until Jan as my work is flexible and if successful defer entry until next summer.

Also I have registered to apply online but if this way of applying is not feasible I will have to let that application reach its expiry and if I apply again next summer will this not effect my application next summer?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance!!

If you apply online you'll just have to fill out the forms when you go to the afco anyway.

I'd go speak to your afco about the travelling thing, it might mean you have to wait longer before joining when you get back because of security checks or something.

Good luck with your application anyway.
