    Take these issues:

    Right to abortion
    Drug legalisation
    Gun control
    The EU
    Euthanasia
    Stem cell research
    Legalised prostitution

    Gay adoption
    Positive discrimination
    Capital punishment
    Faith schools
    Immigration
    National service
    ID cards
    Nuclear disarmament
    Corporal punishment
    For:

    Right to abortion
    Drug legalisation
    Euthanasia
    Stem cell research
    Legalised prostitution
    Gay marriage
    Gay adoption
    Nuclear disarmament

    Undecided but probably against:

    Immigration

    Against:

    Gun control

    Positive discrimination
    Faith schools
    National service
    ID cards

National service is positively against liberty.
Those rights don't just come out of nowhere, they need to be fought for and earned.

I can make some interesting polemics in favour of a Libertarian argument for national service, if you want to hear them.

I'm obviously not going to agree with any of them, but when did that ever stop anyone?

    I couldn't agree more :yy:

Mandatory service equals involuntary servitude, equals slavery. The fact that the government would be the slave master does not make it legal.

Exactly a slave to the state, who's power we allow not the other way around.

In the words of Margaret Thatcher; "The state as servant and not as master".

    Good old Maggie :p:

Plus, a country which cannot produce volunteers to defend itself is not worth saving in the first place.

Plus, to be honest, a country which cannot produce volunteers to defend itself is not worth saving in the first place.

Right to abortion - Only because even if they were not allowed it, it would go back to the days of backstreet abortions which just seemed awful, I generally disagree with abortion though.

    The EU

    Faith schools

    Immigration

    Undecided
Gun control - Not sure how this is meant

Gay marriage - I generally disagree with it in churches and other religious areas, and the word marriage to me equals man and woman, but civil partnerships are okay to me, so it depends how this is defined.

Nuclear disarmament - Would be a good idea but I don't see how it can be controlled.
