Picturing peoples faces

I bet most of you wouldnt really stop and think "oh Im picturing peoples faces". We all naturally do this when maybe we mention someone, try to recall someone etc. How come though, when we imagine someone's face we recognise it is them but if we really tried hard, we wouldnt be able to draw them out? Have you ever had trouble picturing a person and you feel how stupid it is because you do know them?

I have the problem that the people I fall in love at first sight, I cant actually picture their face! Its like my mind has hidden it away from me. Ive only fallen in love once though, but that was like 7 years ago as well and I knew her for like 5 years (were never together). Anyway, I havent fallen in love with this person, but I really really fancy her after she gave me a proper look of liking me as well and I find it really hard to recall her face in my mind. I know I know it but it doesnt come out in my head. I think this is kind of a own experience and I dont think is very common. If I do picture her face up it lasts so short I have to try again. Felt like sharing my thought. What do you think?

Not really, I have a sort of preternatural memory for faces; utterly useless with names though, everything dissolves into a sea of Jacks and Nicks and Lauras, and whatever other names were in fashion when their parents blessed us with their progeny.

i usually can remember pretty accurately how people look. im not much of an artist though so i couldnt draw them properly.

i can remember people quite well. except if i fancy them, i normally remember them as being more goodlooking.

I have the exact same problem. I forget people's faces almost immediately. I'm not great with faces, but if I really like someone it's almost impossible to remember their face. I think it's because, in my mind, she get's clouded with all the other stuff I'm thinking about her, what might happen between us &c. I tend to focus on the name, attach everything to that, since I can't picture her face
