Edexcel S2 17th june 2003 - help with solutions pleaSE watch

    Hey guys, anyone who has done the 17th june 2003 S2 paper, please help me with the solutions! I have a mock this Thursday, and m stuck with lots of it, don’t have any answers, so not even sure if what I m doing is any good… really appreciate it if anyone with the paper could confirm my answers & help me with the one’s I cant get! Thanks

    1. that’s ok
    2. a) n is large & p is small
    b) 0.6064
    3. STUCK with this one – any clues?
    4. a) fine all 4 uses!

    b) i) 32/729 or 0.0439
    ii) 2.185
    5. I really hope this is the rectangular distribution!

    a) p.d.f – 1/20 180 < X < 200
    0 o/w
    b) i) 1.02
    stuck with the rest of this question!!!!!!

    Havent tried question 6 yet! And question 7 was in one of my tests so that’s ok!!

    Would really be greatful for any help/solutions on this paper.. Thanks! Unfortunately mr Hughes doesn’t have them yet

    3a) its binomial
    b)work out x = 0 thru to x = 4 then draw a graph
    c)use the graph
    d)e(x) = np
    var(x) = npq

    4b)i- it needs to be : not 5, not 5, not5, not 5, not5, is 5. (ie thats wrong)
    ii-this is binomial n=8, p = 2/7

    5.a)180-183 = 3/20
    b)1/20
    (if in doubt, integrate)
    c)IQR = Q3-Q1
    =[180 + (.75)(20)] - [180 + (.25)(20)]
    = 10
    d)not sure about this tbh
    e) 1/3 between 200 and 180 ie 1/3 of all cups have <186/2/3ml

    i m still unsure abt how to draw this graph!! do P(X=0) --- till 4 and then plot it against the probability?

    hmm would that be the highes X value -- the mode maybe?
