i'm having so much trouble with my megane mk2 53 plate. i've only had it a month.
i had the cambelt done about 3 weeks ago, and ever since, i've had trouble. i thought i'd get it done because the car is 6 years old and has done 52k.
since then, i've had to have the dephaser changed too, because the car was starting up with a horrible rattle.
ever since i had it back yesterday, it was making a noise as though something was empty.. like something wasn't getting enough juice. it's a hard noise to explain. i've been driving around today and the noise has developed into a really horrible rattle when i accelerate and get to about 3000 rpm. i had a drive in it earlier, and now it's doing it all the time when i'm accelerating, and i'm losing power too. i'm guessing this is something the garage has done when putting everything back together, but i have no idea whats causing it. my other half made a video, you can't really hear it too well though. it gets to about 3000 revs when stationary when the noise kicks in, and does it all the time when moving. the noise kicks in at about 20 secs on the video... eventhough the sound is pants.
    any ideas?

sort of a resonence at high revs isnt it?

Wonder if you've got a heat shield loose or a mullered exhaust mount?

I thought the same thing, heat shield wouldn't cause a loss in power though. Have a word with the garage you took it to and say its been rattling since you got it back from them.

    Not neccesarily. Infact, very unlikely.

the noise is definately coming from the engine itself... i'm taking it back to the garage anyway tomorrow, i just wanted an idea of what it could be.
i've also been told it could be the belt out by a tooth, or a software upgrade for the dephaser pully? ergh i just want it fixed

just take it back to them its their problem really. play on the fact that it wasnt doing it before you took it there.
