my snowy vision..

:frown:
I have this thing called snowy vision were constantly in front of my eyes I see like transparent snow falling and wizzing everywere.
I have been 2 the opticians 3 times, hospital once and an optermologist once were they have carried out loads of tests but they have no idea of what ive got as they have never seen or heard of what I have. Ive read on the net that a couple of hundred ppl in usa have the same thing but their doctors are clueless. On top of this I have floaters (phhhwff).
LOL has any one else got this, i doubt it.
And does any one know who I should see for this.
hmmmmmm................. :frown:

i'm thinking your definition of 'floaters' is different to mine

That happens to me sometimes. I think it's just a rush of blood to the head, when you stand up too fast. etc.

why???? the floaters i get is just some little black bits or some lines that sometimes fly happily accross my vision.

its just the other thing that gets on my nerves the snow thing. i have it all the time.

*sob* why cant i be normal????

actually, that is normal. Most people get flecks in their vision at some point as its just dust over the lens of the eye. It will 'float' down your range of vision and can be black or clear.
I get weird things that move across my vision at times. it's quite strange, i only really see them in bright light and in my left eye.

I think it stems from when i got hit in the eye with mud, it must have scratched my eye; although they don't stay in one position. hmm.

I get floaters in my eyes too. One particularly annoying one is a back dot in my left eye. the others are ligher in colour and so less noticeable. I notice them more when I wear contact lenses. Don't know why that is.

About the snowy things..I suggest waiting a few months then going to the docs to see if they have made any progress in finding out what it is..Keep researching on the net though. Sometimes it's good to research online, print out what you think is useful and relevant, and give a copy to your doctor.

Are the floaters associated with headaches or migraines?
I skipped the opthamalogy lectures on wednesday (eeek, a lie in seemed more appealing) but the week before we went through migraines, and floaters (looks like a bit of coal moving about in your vision) were often associated with migraines.

Heres a trick to see if its cos of your eye or your brain.
Next time you get a 'floater' figure out where it is (ie on your left side or right side). Then close each eye in turn. Lets say the floater was moving about on your right hand side. if you close your right eye and can still see it, then close left eye and can still see it, then it is cos of a very ickly bit of damage on the left hand side of your brain in the occipital lobe (very back of your head). If when you close one of your eyes the floater disappears, then it is a problem with the eye you closed.

The snow falling thing sounds JUST LIKE a migraine prodrome like the floaters. I think you have a neuro problem - not an eye problem. Of course opthamologists would know WAY better than me, but i would say you should ask the GP for a referral to a neurologist. they have different tests etc for figuring out these things.
You might get a bit of a delay tho - especially if they decide to give you a brain MRI (best, most detailed scan you can do of brain). the waiting lists are mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmassive. (often over a year)

I don't get eye floaters, but I do get very cloudy vision if I stand up too fast.

Just an ickle bit of postural hypotension. Pretty common.

woah - i get that - didnt know it had a name though. i usually can focus on them if i try and they always move off the field of vision, its fun trying to get them to stay still.

also i have this where you have this very tiny dot, which is black, when staring at landscape or plain things.

yeh and sometimes - ive been sitting on my comp then i stand up and look all the blood rushes from my eyes and i get like distortion for a couple of seconds while my eyes adjust.

- Normal.

-Could you explain a bit more what you mean (sounds like a small blindspot or scar on your eye)

yeh, when i look at landscape (which is bright and clear) i can sometimes see a dot, so tiny u can hardly see it. havent really noticed it recently but i used to be able to see it.

Are you sure its not just your blindspot.......?
most people can't 'see it', but if yours is unusually big (which wouldnt necessarily be pathognomic) then you might percieve it as a tiny blakc dot.

when i used to get migraines, the whole left hand side of my vision would go all fuzzy and multicoloured. i could see everything on the right hand side but the left hand side would be like flashing lights. might not be "normal" but it wasn't anything bad (apparently).

i read somewhere that floaters were just bits of things moving across your eye (like, inside your eye).

i get that rush of blood thing when i stand up every so often. sometimes its so bad i fall over (which looks pretty funny) and sometimes i black out. lesson to learn: don't stand up too quickly!

the left hand side wierd vision simply meant that the migraine was on the right hand side of your brain.
kinda creepy when you think of it like that though dont you reckon?

Dont think it is cos ive had this thing for about 6 years now..

Hey these 'snow flakes' you tlk about are they quite large? Coz i have a similar thing where i can see millions of minute little specks in my vision and the more i focus on the problem the worse it gets and then they seem to b there permenantly.
