And what happens after you get those 10 people, and establishing that society? Do they give you money, or what? What's the point?

I think its just going to be a gaming society now, it won't alienate people who don't want to bring PC's and stuff.

It'll be fun to organise trips, maybe start a Uclan Clan, tournaments and prizes, etc.

You get to meet people and socialise i guess, it would also look good on your CV.

When i went for my interview and went on the campus tour the guy said someone had a Nintendo DS Appreciation Society or something and they got funding off uni to bu games for their DS's apparently *shrugs*

Pro. I'm guessing people from my class would join. It is Game Design after all. I'd really like to do LAN games, but I don't think people are going to want to bring their PC's in.

If you did a LAN once a month or something and had a proper all nighter thing going on people would probably be up for it, as long as it was organised decently enough. Obviously too much hassle to do it dead regularly and just for a couple of hours though.

Make it a thing for all Gamers then if you get lots of members just ask how many like the idea of LAN gaming, and then if its a majority focus on LAN but keeping the other side interested too. I'd help out with some of the console stuff as i prefer console gaming to PC gaming but i like both so yeah.

Yeah, I was thinking every few weeks or something. I say was thinking, I thought about it first yesterday, I'm not sure what we need to proper get a society status. I've applied on the website, so I guess it goes from there when they reply.

Just kinda afraid that people will be expecting consoles and stuff from the outset.

Kinda cool that people are interested already though. We pretty much have the minimum members we need.

Yeah. It'd be nice to have Society rankings and leaderboards and stuff. I'll stop hijacking this thread and make a new one.

There's a list on http://uclansu.co.uk/ under 'get involved.' There doesn't seem to be very many though so I don't know if it's an extensive list. I think I want to join the film society and the badminton club.

There weren't that many societies around last year from what I saw. They usually have a list pinned up i the student union building so you should visit during Freshers week.
