    It does happen, but only rarely, and with Uni places capped this year, the number of people who get in this year will be even less...

    How do you know your end total of UCAS points?

    you find out after u get your results...the grades equals a certain amount of points e.g

    A=120
    B=100
    c=80 etc etc

    Do you play an instrument? ABRSM Grades 6 - 8 translate into UCAS points too.

    I dont think anyone here can tell you for sure whether your going to get in. Have you got any As's you took but didnt take to a-level? You need to check with Portsmouth and your offer but they may accept them towards your ucas score total. I'm in your situation but slightly different because I have personal circumstances that earned me a letter from my tutor & he advisor that got sent to my department at Portsmouth. The best thing to do is just wait really. If you dont get the 280 ucas points check your ucas track and it should be 'unconfirmed' or 'declined' - if its unconfirmed you need to ring up Portsmouth on their clearing line to discuss whether there is still a place for you in Geography they may offer you a different course. If your ucas is 'declined' - sadly they havent been able to accept you

    Hope this helps!

    and u see the clearing number it says to call portsmouth, is that open everyday or is that only open afetr results?? cause i cant see them saying anything other than wait and see what results u get

    If you don't have the points, then you may not get in, especially this year as there's so many more people who have applied for places.

    If you took Sociology AS and got a C, that will give you 40 UCAS points, so you should be absolutely spot on. Give the admissions department a ring and speak to them.
