I wanted to give blood today, but apparantly you can't book an appointment on the same day as the session... do you think there'd still be a chance of me being able to give blood if I just turned up? I'm a first time donor if that makes any difference. Thanks.

Yes, you can - download a form online to fill out first as these can take quite a while, and if you don't meet the medical requirements (e.g. if you've been abroad or had unprotected sex) it saves you wasting time. But you should be able to turn up and give blood fairly swiftly! Good luck.

Yeah I've never made an appointment and have always just turned up. It does mean you'll wait longer though, but the people who do book still seem to wait anyway.

As has been said already, you CAN go and give blood on the first time you turn up. It may take a long time though as they have to fit you in between the people that've booked an appointment. When I first went it took four hours from arrival for me to give blood :/

In my town they had to turn people away who didn't have an appointment because there was so many people. Ever since then I've always booked an appointment. But I think that may have just been a rare incident.

As a first time donor they probably wouldn't expect you to have an appointment anyway...it shouldn't be a problem unless the session is insanely busy.
