Basically I failed this 1st Year and so I'm having to make an appeal to resit the year with repeat teaching/classes (compared to resiting as a private candidate without teaching).

Apparently resiting as a private candidate is the default position, so you have to make a good case for why you think you should have teaching. I also have to discuss in the appeal what made the year so difficult and strategies to overcome this...

So 1 of the reasons I failed was because of my family situation where with my parents being away, I had to stay at home to look after my cousin alot, so I missed lots of lectures/classes. I can include this, but I don't think it's enough of an excuse.
The other main reason I failed was due to pure laziness and not working, however I don't know how I can put this down as 1 of the reasons for my failing without them thinking I won't simply do this again when I repeat the year.

Anyone help on what I can include + the 'strategies' to overcome these problems?
    Thanks :o:

I'm thinking you could maybe disguise laziness as 'slow to adapt to university life' due to shyness or something else etc. Just curious but why did your parents go away?
