The rest... just about believable...but the PSU was an outright white rabbit!

You should see some of the builds that have been proposed in some places. One person has actually asked me "how important can a PSU actually be?" I told him to do a test and find out for himself :p:

How important is the part that makes the whole thing capable of receiving the energy it requires to actually turn on?

    Some people are just daft.

Hope this answers your problem, win 7 on a slow laptop like this will struggle. another gig or 2 of ram will help but id just put xp back on personally as what performance it had will be taken running win 7.

FYI; I run Win7 on a 1.6Ghz dual core with 1GB RAM and it runs beautifully.
    I've got Win7 on a 1.5Ghz single core (pentium-m) with 768MB RAM
It still runs beautifully (though no aero on the 32MB radeon 7500 :p:)

It runs like goddamn lightning on my x61s :woo:
(and that's only 1.6Ghz dual core)
