    Hi all,

I dont really use facebook much, (in fact i only have a few friends on it) but wanted to know do you guys ever get any completely unexpected friend requests?

For example, just a few weeks ago i got a friend request from a 32year old women who lives in the USA (im a 19 year old uk guy). How the heck would some stranger just find a random uk guy and give a frind request?

Forgive my ignorance, but does this sound like a genuine USA women lookining for young guys from the uk to make friendships with?? or is my profile being targeted by some scam/joke/ company trying to sell me stuff??
I beleive its the latter, i mean how likely is it that she would just find me out of millions of facebookers, and say 'i wanna be his friend'' .

Do any of you guys get unusual friend requests?
( a m8 told me on bebo, he used to get friend requests from young women, always saying 'i dnt use bebo often, please use this other site to talk properly to me....'' and the other site was always porn/ adult dating etc)

It's more or less what your friend said I'm afraid. I used to use Bebo a lot and it was a pain for it. But I'd laugh when I'd go to the profile and other people would leave them comments like "Who is this?" "Do I know you?" lol

One of my mates went on my account, added every other girl with his name (His name is Joe) to see whether or not they were fit, using me as a proxy.

I haven't gotten any who the hell are you messages yet...or anyone accepting, thankfully.

That said, I've had quite a few randoms try to add me.

Just dont add people you dont know thats what I do. It could be that she is just randomly adding people that she likes the look of.

    This.

I normally don't respond to friend requests if I'm not going to accept, I just leave the invitation pending. A few weeks ago I decided to reject all the people who'd added me who I didn't know; 95%+ were male, and I rejected around 140.

The friend suggestions are ******; I keep getting black, middle-aged Texan women with whom I have no mutual friends appearing.

Maybe this woman is getting 19 year old, British males appearing in her box (*snigger*).

She probably knows someone with the same name as you, and clicked on you by mistake.

This is nothing new, whatever social networking site you are on, you are bound to get about 100 random requests from strangers.

nah man the freakiest ones are where some guy tries to friend you and he lives somewhat close to you

like the other day this guy tried to friend me - his profile said he went to a high school pretty near mine - but we had no mutual friends.

he must have done some serioouuss stalking to find me. like look through friends of friends pictures now thats freaky.

I never get this because I've set my account so that only friends and friends of friends can add me. That way mummy and daddy can't add me

I have had females in barely any clothes add me, I don't know why, I am female. I look at their friends and they don't normally have any at all, I've had this a few times and they always have very foreign names. Also get a lot of Asian guys of all ages adding me with again, very foreign names.

I know the ones you mean. I always check out the mutual friends, normally there will be at least one and so i can work out how i might know this person.

But occasionally there are no mutual friends and the person lives in Pretoria or something. They can be a bit creepy, this one bloke kept trying to add me after i rejected his friend request several times. I sent him a strong worded message, then never heard from him again.
