The investigation found one GP earning £380,000 a year and a number pocketing more than £300,000.
In some cases the figures include cash GPs have to pay out for staff salaries and rents.
So the headline says that they pocket 300000 but small print mentions that they need to pay rent for the premises and salaries for who knows how many staff members with this.

    they deserve it.

why should the fake awful celebrities get paid millions for a photoshoot or film and get away with it? they are the people that should get paid much less. and dont get me started on footballers

because they generate money. if someones particular participation in a film results in world wide grossing revenue of 500mill $ for the film, then why shouldnt they get paid 20mill $? clueless people like you need to grow up and realize how the world works.

No, we understand. We just think it is ****.

People think it is okay to pay people millions for unnecessary things yet dare to to ask for wage for saving and/or improving lives and you are condemned as being greedy, evil or both.

how is it unnecessary? if i was the president of a football club and i knew that a certain player would win me trophies/bring in huge amounts of revenue id pay **** loads to make sure he signed for my club - case in point Ronaldo. what would you suggest he gets paid? 10k/week? well then hed just move to another country/league/club where hed get paid more. the same works for everything. its just how the world works. im not condemning people for asking for better wages, what i am condemning are people who keep on going on and on about how unfair it is that footballers/movie stars get paid so much. its not unfair. there are perfectley good reasons why they get paid so much.

worst case scenario i guess we could all revolt and instill a communist government where everyone gets paid the same wage. USSR v2 4tw amiright?

Try putting a value on lives and their quality, then see how wound up people get...

The average GP by the time they're 35-40 will earn about 75000. The best people in any proffesion will earn massive amounts of money, expecially if they're private practice, but the average amount is about 75,000.

Load of rubbish. My dad is the senior partner at a practice, and he doesn't earn a quarter of that.

Someone exclaimed about this in the shop today, it was on the front page.

Firstly, I think that doctors deserve it. More years training, more hours, plus they have to deal with the general public. Not only that, they have to deal with the general public moaning. Not only that, they have to deal with the old general public moaning. That's the worst part of my job, and I would hate that part. Secondly, I think nurses should get paid more (rather than doctors being paid less). Thirdly, I pay a lot of tax and I am more than happy to give it to doctors, plus a lot of their money (especially the ones on 300,000 plus) will get taxed. Fourthly, I'd rather doctors got this money than bankers or anyone else that regularly makes £300,000 or more.
Fifthly, this just compounds the publics image of doctors and people don't really realise how much hard work and effort (I know they choose to do the job, but doesn't mean they don't deserve the rewards) they actually do. This is one of the worst headlines to publish, because now all these mail readers (and the 14 year old kids moaning about it in the shop this morning) will just be spouting ****, and not all doctors get that much.

    Piss in the pool.

So a small proportion of people are earning a lot of money. At least they aren't stealing like the politicians or doing something seemingly insignificant like television presenters, sports personalities or people who are in advertising.

Let's get a sense of perspective.

Also, 'for work they used to do'.How come no one ever remembers that the Government thought they could do it cheaper and let them opt out for a cut in salary? And then realised the work that GPs do that they hadn't accounted for and ended up doing the work but with it costing more.
This. I saw something on the BBC yesterday saying some senior politicians were getting salary increases of 8-11%

I think it depends on the doctor, I know what you mean though, I've had a doctor like that before. It's really frustrating. I've also met a lot of specialists who are really arrogant. :/ Which is even more annoying.
