    Hi all,

I just finished my GCSEs and I am waiting for my GCSE results. However, I have an extremely long name that is only written on my British passport, and is not used by people who know me who refer to me as a different name.

I am soon going to change my name via Deed Poll to the name that is easier to pronounce and the name that everyone calls me.

I know that you cannot amend GCSE/ALevel certificates to recieve a certificate with your new name on it, but I am worried about UCAS application forms as I don't know how they work...

If I change my name, will UCAS not be able to track my results back to the exam boards to rectify my GCSE results or will they still be able to through candidate numbers?

I'm really confused, and I was wondering if you could help me.

    Thanks.

candidate number should be enough as it is individual to you and also by your schools centre number

Why not wait until you start at university to change your name? Once you are there then the GCSE things become irrelevant. Changing now just gives you an extra thing to stress over and God knows you don't need that!
