    Things I associate with UK....

    - The Beetles (I actually think of Oasis)
    - Red Buses (I actually think of traffic)
    - Fashion (I actually think of waiting queues)
    - NHS (I actually think of MRSA)
    - Fish & Chips (I actually think of Weetabix)
    - Trafalgar Square (I actually think of Albert Square)
    - Poets (I actually think of liars)
    - Multicultural (I actually think of racists)
    - Bankers (I actually think of a similar word that rhymes)

    Welcome to the real UK

Feel Free to add to my list (ironically that's another thing...in our system of democracy, we don't have freedom of speech)

So my brother recently got back from Ghana, loved it etc. and our cousin asked him 'so what's the UK like?'

and i thought to myself...where do you begin?!

    I immediately thought of:

    fashion
    binge drinking
    politeness/orderly
    education
    NHS
    knife crime
    multi cultural society

what comes to your head? good or bad.
When i think of the UK...
First thing that comes to my mind is that it's the premier destination for education and it is mutiracial/multicultural. The British cuisine, however is unoriginal, fish and chips??, tea with sugar or milk. Plus I'm not too keen on the Brits' sense of style, no offence but the clothing from the high street stores are mostly tacky (Topshop, Karen Millen and a few others are the exceptions) and I end up buying American labels instead.

im from the uk, and i find generally the views of most people are slightly racist, but thats just a generalisation, i hate the way people are towards others, it might just be ignorance instead of a deep down feeling of racism

I find the UK just boring. "Boredom 'fuels teen alcohol use' "-http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8181289.stm
I find the UK wet, expensive, cold, depressing and unfriendly. Alcohol is the cheap way to beat boredom, everything else is just expensive.

It's so, so sad that the NHS is what people think of when they think of Britain and not the common law, habeus corpus, the abolition of slavery or jury trials.

It's all been covered the in the above posts.

Most people abroad already have an idea of what to expect. Red buses, Houses of Parliament, Thames, Black Cabs. This is of course London alone.
