Oh god, I mean seriously is there any kind of worse person in the world than the ones who complain about 4chan becoming too mainstream?
Calm down, love. We don't want you bursting a blood vessel.

is this the same complaint people have against indie bands that gain recognition and become "too mainstream" (the one's where the music doesn't change, they just get a much larger audience)?
You said it buddy! I can't stand that once a band makes it big some of it's initial followers desert it because its become so popular. Absolute rubbish, some people are just annoyed that their music tastes aren't quite as 'unique' as they thought they were.

I bloody hate "fail". It's a verb, not a ******* noun or an adjective. You can fail. You can be a failure. But you can't be fail.
Google wasn't a verb until a few years ago, but now it is. Language evolves over time.

    To answer the OP's question:
    1) Troll isn't a meme, it's a term to describe people
    2) Many memes will become mainstream, but new ones are being created all the time anyway.

4chan was mainstream 2 years ago.

Go back like, 4 or so years ago, that's when the places was still an internet treehouse.

That all said, people saying that sort of thing is no big deal, it happens.

Memes are lame by definition. It only works on 4chan because it's self-consciously a ****-hole and no one's pretending any different. And no one cares if you make a **** post because -shock- you're anonymous. Outside of that it's simply unfunny.
