I hope they don't introduce it!
But I think wit hthe introduction of A* grades, the chances of that happening now are smaller. It may happen in the future, as A levels get easier and easier.

If they do, I hope its only AFTER 2011 :P
They are most certainly going to introduce it for entry in 2010. They are introducing so that they can weed out all the retards who inevitably would only hog their given places until they realise that they are in fact too stupid and then, ceremoniously, drop-out.

People who are too stupid don't generally get places.

And the entrance exam was said to have no correlation with final degree result. So it's useless in that respect. A high entrance score =/= an amazing student.

You would think that wouldn't you. However I am going to play my "I am an Imperial student as we speak"- card allowing me to make informed observations and conclusions about the student body. I would say that about 10-20% have not business at Imperial and are complete **** turds, who I have no idea how they got in.

Hmmm, okay, well, I'll take your opinion then given as you're there hehe - I'm just sure we were told (at least for chemistry, I assumed it was true for all subjects) that there wasn't going to be one for the 2009 application cycle.

They tried out the Cambridge TSA on us, to use as a comparative indicator to see how our TSA performance correlated with our exam results.
I couldn't be bothered to do it. We were already being absolutely raped with work at the time, couldn't be asked to do an optional test on top..

True for chemistry. From Dr Craig's mouth itself, there is not going to be an entrance exam for 2009, nor is there likely going to be one next year. Plans can change though.

Is Dr Craig the guy who is quite big/does research in green chemistry? If so, he's the guy that gave the talk on the open day that I was at hehe. Nice bloke.

Nah, I think the guy who does the green chemistry talks is Chris Braddock. Don Craig is the Head of Admissions/Admission Tutor for the chemistry department.

Ok, you said for entry in 2010, which I understood to mean the 2009 cycle.

    Apologies for misunderstanding...

I'll be surprised if Imperial introduce an entrance exam when there is a perfectly good differentiator in the new A* grade. Unless you need even more hoops for applicants to jump through. JMC is already needing A* in Maths and Further Maths ffs, I will take my hat off to anyone who gets 90%+ in all of FP2, FP3 and C4 and C3...

Yes clearly that is the best way to go; introduce another
grade instead of fixing the initial problem. The government has become so ******* PC that no one is allowed to be better than someone else and everyone has to be included "no one left out in the cold" and all that ********.

Stop the dumbing down and people who should be at university will be instead of half the ******* population doing surf science.

Well, Labour has always traditionally been more left wing, so trying to increase university education for the masses isn't exactly unbeknown to them

No but replacing the purpose of University with a socialist motif is not just wrong it is criminal. It is detrimental to the country and should be treated as such in a court of law.

I may be harsh but I really hate socialist.
