I thought the correct phrase was "none of them were" to be honest. :o:
It's not. The teacher even checked with another teacher who has a first from St Andrews in English. Sometimes I wish I didn't know these things so I wouldn't get so worked up about them, but it was the principle of being right when everyone else was wrong that frustrated me a bit ...

Still, it is beneficial. I know someone who is going to have a KICK-ASS application. They have done so much in their life both on the academic and non-academic side, it's unbelievable.

If this person was exceptional in each field, they could be called a polymath :yep: not that I'm saying this person isn't exceptional.

I'm so jealous of this person. :sigh:
Awww. :console: Be better than them, articulate your desire to study law better than them. :dontknow: It'll also be little things like "none of them was" that will impress the admissions staff. :yep: They might have climbed Kilimanjaro and won a Nobel Prize and found a cure for cancer, but they might actually know very little about the subject. Last year a girl was rejected from all four of her choices to study medicine because she didn't know anything about science outwith the Higher syllabus.

You wouldn't be nice enough to PM me your PS, would you? :daydreaming: It'll be entirely different from mine of course, but I'd still like a wee swatch at it. (My friend has his sister's PS to look at that got her an Oxford interview with AAABB at Higher. :sigh: Unlikely that he'll let me look at it!! :teeth:)

It is extremely frustrating when you know you are right and everyone has banded against you in the unified, misled belief that they are right simply because that is the popular belief of a few of the loudest people.
OMG YOU'RE SO RIGHT  That is exactly it.

Oh, it's not like I'm in direct competition with them. She's taking another course. :o: and she is amazing. :yep:

    :sigh:
Only 4 people in our year out of 200 got five As. That's rather low, isn't it? I agree that there are people who are perfect like that, a girl I know who is the equivalent of the girl you describe is the smartest person I know, as well as being hysterically funny and absolutely gorgeous. LIFE ISN'T FAIR, DAMNIT!!! :p:

Sure thing! Having a look at it now, it looks like a heap of **** but at the time I thought it was fairly decent.

Anyone else who wants to see it, just PM me and i'll probably be happy to oblige.

Such an appropriate typo!! As my friend put it, "You look petrified." There is a massive bruise on my knee from 10am this morning and my friend was shot in the neck; it looks like a bleeding lovebite.

Never, never again. :sigh: I thought it was so painful; my knee felt like it was on fire for ages, and it's still stinging now.

Should I have started my Personal Statement by now?
If you're applying to Oxford or Cambridge you have to apply early, so it's worth thinking about. Looking at the 'time created' metadata on my drafts, it looks like I started and finished during the second week of September. On the other hand, I was a bit keen. :p:

I see. There were people on here saying "yeah, 10 folk got five As" etc etc and I was surprised  but to be fair there were a lot of people who just missed 5 As. I know one guy who got AAAAB and he's still "devastated."

Reminds me of me last year :p:

I think in general most people who come on here go to schools that are quite good, so what you hear of here isn't indicative of the average.

I was originally considering Maths at Oxford but I've now decided against it. Don't want to be that far away from home to be honest and I'd rather not pay the fees. Plus, I probably wouldn't get in:p:
