My commute to and from school was an hour and a half to two hours, anyway. :p: The UK's not that big, really - if the worst came to the worst, I could hop on a train in the morning and be back home in the evening (or my parents could drive down in a similar timescale). I did eventually balk at applying to the States, when I thought of precisely what the distance (and cost) would mean - realistically, I was just going to have to live there for the full duration of the time without being able to come home.
Are you considering a year abroad?

Not an option in the Cambridge course, at least as far as I can see. There is an MIT exchange, but not in my course (mainly engineering and medicine, I think). As I say, maybe for my PhD (pretty much have to do a Master's first in the UK, but it looks like you just spend longer doing your PhD in the States).

Probably :p: I also didn't really like the whole 'general education' thing where you didn't really specialize until much later in your degree.

haha i feel so sheltered worrying about moving away now when you are all moving miles and miles away
It's all relative to what you're used to, though, isn't it?

That's a bit of a shame but there's plenty of other opportunites. :yep:
I'm hoping to get the chance to go over, especially to a uni in Canada or Alaska...that's if I'm good enough at my subject
