Well it isn't a major essay, just two pages on a question for Harold Pinters 'The Homecoming'. Texts we're doing in class is 'The Trick Is To Keep Breathing' and also 'Foreign Parts' by Janice Galloway, the other two plays we're focusing on are 'Mountain Language' and 'One For The Road' also by Pinter. I'm doing '1984', 'Brave New World' and 'A Perfect Day' for my disseratation . What about you?

    Going for dystopia are you?
In class we're doing Tennessee William's 'A Streetcar Named Desire' and 'Sweet Bird of Youth' for drama and Carol Ann Duffy (who I get to meet on Tuesday :woo: ) for poetry - 18 poems. :eek3:
And doing Henrik Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' and 'Hedda Gabler' for the dissertation. fun fun.

My English department decided not to do poetry anymore, because apparently the SQA did a nasty thing with this years AH English paper. They put down the names of 4 specific poems by that person and you could only write on those 4 poems, the class last year did do those 4 poems but not as much as the other poems.

 So they're not meant to do that. It's a bit unfair having to learn 18 poems (quotes and all) as well as two other texts you've studied and then making questions only specific to certain poems. Too much work.

Are you saying my English department aren't allowed to do that? Or the SQA? :p:. One of the things the teacher said to me is that the SQA think poetry is a bit too easy and stuff, so that why they've been making the questions for poetry in the higher paper and AH higher a bit too vague. Tbh I did notice the poetry questions this year were a bit different to other past papers.
