"We admit you to a degree rather than to a subject, School or Department, so you can usually study any subjects which interest you, and even change direction as your interests and ambitions develop."

This is from Aberdeen Uni. Does that mean that you can start a degree in the sciences department (biomedical) but change to the arts (english) if you want?

I'm currently typing up my reflective. Brings up dysphoric memories
Indeed it is another Edinburgh Open Day. Glad you have an idea at least, I've no clue I've been trying to think of something all week!

    Appeal?
    Wow. You remembered.
Nah, the school got the result today (i.e. depute rector person) but didn't pass on the result to the english dept, possibly due to the inspection and whatnot. So will hopefully find out on Monday. :eek3:

    Have you appealed for anything?

I have not. I tend to shy away from the greater known authors - unless I'm forced to read them - or authors that are too widely appreciated. Why?

Interesting. :beard: Do you know of any obscure poets/authors I might enjoy? :awesome: I read famous authors to see what all the fuss is about, but usually I randomly pick up books in shops and they become my favourites. :o:

Well, I've done a bit of backgroung reading on African-American feminist literature recently for ideas for the dissertation so if you'd be interested in that sort of thing then Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison and Zora Neale Hurston to name a few. Aravind Adiga, Mitch Albom and Marcus Zusak are pretty decent also.

Yeah, I've been wanting to read The Great Gatsby, Lolita and 1984 for a while now and read some Jane Austen because she was so popular.
