Degree level Chemistry - anyone good at retrosynthesis??

I need some help quite urgently, I've been trying to come up with some sort of 'reasonable' answers to these:

and

i've worked out 7a) i) properly so far, but has anyone got any ideas/hints towards some sort of answer I can write for any of the rest?
I also think a sulfur ylid can be used to make the epoxide for ii), but i'm not sure about making the ring

I'm actually diabolically bad at retro style questions.
for 7a)ii) consider using possibly allyl cuprate to add 1,4 - then add HBr across the double bond to give the bromide - then use the enol(ate) to do an Sn2 to displace the Br and form the ring - finally the sulfur ylide as you've suggested.
